Film & TV of the Year Awards 2018 - The Results

The voting is complete and we have the results of the 2018:

Film and TV of the Year Awards

Taken from your nominations we have below the results of the four eligible categories. The first category winner is:

    Bordersdown TV Choice of 2018

Netflix original horror series debuted in a quiet fashion but positive word of mouth has built ever since. The ten episode series follows a families history over two periods in their lives, their younger days attempting to fix up the old Hill House and the present day as they still try to supress their experiences and the new horror that is calling on them. Acclaimed for the meticulous direction and the effective delivery of movie horror on TV scale, the series has been a big hit and an original successor is now planned.

Runner Ups: Better Call Saul, Ozark

Bordersdown Best 2017 Movie Belated Viewed

The hit musical launched late 2017 and steadily built itself up to be a major money earner thanks to strong word of mouth. That success continued into and all throughout 2018 with many catching up on the film long after its original release, it's soundtrack holding the album top spot throughout most of the year also.

Runner Ups: Blade Runner 2049, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

    Bordersdown Worst Movie of 2018

One of the highest earning movies of the year but also a sequel that polarised fans a lot more than the previous entry did. The fifth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise took us briefly back to Isla Sorna one last time before sending us to a mansion full of rich men, hybrid experiments and a clone in a move that for many meant the franchise was crossing into territory too far from its theme park smashing roots. The series will return again in 2021 off the back of this films success but for now, Jurassic has to face being this years winner of the least wanted prize in the voting.

Runner Ups: Death Wish, The Predator

Bordersdown Film of the Year 2018
And here, for the ninth year in a row, is the main prize. The films below are the countdown to the most loved film of 2018 as voted by you, the users of Bordersdown:

    Third Place - Deadpool 2

Deadpools sophomore outing added in some new characters and a play at having a bit more heart than the original and whilst it lacked the pop culture shock the original had enjoyed it did mean the film enjoyed a similar level of success. So much in fact that the sequel stands here, the third most voted for film in this years voting - a feat the original never managed.

Second Place - Mission Impossible: Fallout

The sixth M:I entry and the most successful entry also, a kind of continuation and culmination of the third thru fifth films growing narrative saw Superman come into the fray as Ethan Hunt once again does the impossible and not only stops a major terrorist threat but also continues to crush the Bond franchise. Heavily acclaimed on release, the film also proved popular with the forums users, enough to initially lead the charge but in the end just fall short of the top prize.

    The Bordersdown Movie of 2018

The third Avengers movie was one of the biggest events of 2018 at the box office and brought ten years of Marvel led superhero action towards the end of its first real chapter. Though the rest of its tale is yet to be released in this years fourth Avengers movie, and despite the vast bulk of the films events depending on viewer familiarity with the previous twenty movie strong arc, this culmination paid off in the eyes of many fans and with a quick snap of the fingers you have voted Avengers: Infinity War your movie of 2018.

And that's it for another year, keep a critical eye open as 2019 won't just be another chance to decide an annual winner, it'll also be the chance to decide Bordersdown Movie of the Decade.
