I like to hear all the instruments and clear vocals, with bass not dominating. When I talk about a 'warmer and smoother' sound, it's because I was reading tube amp reviews and that's how people described the sound. So I realised that's the kind of more analogue sound I'd prefer over a very clinical digital sound.

I mostly listen to music through headphones while at my computer, so I thought a tube amp might be a simple way to give music the warmer feel I desire. I only listen through speakers now and then.

(I have the matching CD player too.)

Pair that up with speakers such as these https://www.richersounds.com/mordaun...-per-pair.html and you’ve got a cracking wee system. I picked up those speakers last month for a system I was putting together for my nephew. A steal at £80.
I really appreciate the info, so I'll keep it in mind. I'm sure that a Denon amp and those speakers would sound really nice but I'm not sure if I want to use Hi-Fi equipment again.

I've just been investigating the possibilities when it comes to creating a warmer sound. I'm still looking into 'tube amps', with the 'Little Dot MK2' looking interesting. But then you have to think about changing the valves.

I used to have Hi-Fi gear, but sold it a while back after deciding to downscale.

I can appreciate that. I went from separates and speakers to a couple of wireless active speakers a few years ago. It’s a lot neater and sounds fab. I think active speakers are the future of hi-if.

I'll probably end up buying different speakers for my PC. Also, I have read really positive reviews regarding 'tube amps', so I might see what I think. I'm not rushing into anything.

If you’re using headphones a lot a combined DAC and headphone amp might be a good purchase.

I use this for my headphones - https://www.musicalfidelity.com/v90-hpa

USB input for music playback from my computer and the phono inputs for connecting to my game controllers.
