Chris Evans is to voice Buzz Lightyear in Pixar's newly announced Lightyear, an animated origin movie about the character telling the tale that inspired the toys seen in Toy Story. The film arrives on 17 June 2022 in cinemas.

Also announced from Pixar is a film about a girl who turns into a red panda called Turning Red which launches in cinemas 11 March 2022

Disney themselves have announced Encanto, a Columbia based animated classic additional arriving on 24 November 2021 - which is about a girl who grows up part of a magical family but lacks powers of her own.

Pixar's new Creative Officer has said the company has been asked by Disney to increase its output so is doing so to support Disney+ but also pulls back a little on the company's previous double down on original movies saying it's a necessity that sequels are also made and looking forward Pixar will likely need to put out a few more following the recent leaning to original titles.
