The project would be bankrupted by just the committee that is put in charge of organisation, let alone the actual construction itself. That’s how bad the country is now.
Vast majority of motions submitted call for party to explicitly back remain
The vast majority of Labour member motions pushed forward ahead of the Labour Party Conference are in favour of pushing the party to take a Remain stance - a majority of 90%
Breaking ‘manacles’ comments come a day before PM travels for Brexit talks in Luxembourg
Johnson has described himself as The Hulk, breaking the EU chains that tie the UK down - one day before going to meet them for talks that they say he's lying to the public about regarding their progress
Ruffalo pointed out to Boris Johnson that the Marvel character only fights for the good of the whole, as PM’s comments drew widespread derision
Mark Ruffalo responds by saying Johnson has missed the points that the Hulk largely fights in the name of good and works best as part of a team - not on his own
I think Johnson has missed that the Hulk is a tragic figure.
BoJo's a classisist, right? Honestly, someone needs to explain to him... He's made the popular culture faux pas equivalent to saying we should behave like Icarus, because Icarus was able to fly really high.
I wonder if he was closer than we realise to the message he wanted to get across. So many times I heard that Brexit was basically a protest vote. Essentially an act of mindless destruction carried out by the equivalent of toddlers throwing a tantrum. Cutting off their noses to spite their face and all that. Being destructive and mindless when it comes to the EU even at a personal cost still seems to be something a percentage want.
Rolling coverage of the day’s political developments as British PM meets with Jean-Claude Juncker and Luxembourg’s Xavier Bettel
Swinson says the Lib Dems are open to election pacts with all Remain parties, continuing to brush Labour aside as they're not outright a Remain party. I still don't see how this doesn't help ensure Remain/Ref sides won't outright lose.
Raab says that if a Deal is secured then the UK would still leave the transition phase in December 2020

Yet again, taking the cowards option, Johnson fails to attend the post-EU talks press conference because of noisy protesters. Luxenbourg's PM clearly enjoyed having centre stage and took the opportunity to say that the EU won't in anyway be taking any blame for what is a homemade problem and that as expected Johnson was lying and had no new proposals to bring to the EU.
Sorry to be confrontational, but are you seriously saying that Luxembourg's modern political leaders should be more ingratiating due to the World Wars? The wars that, to make the slightest of exaggerations, no-one currently alive actually fought in?
I’m not sure if that’s what he was referring to. I figured not, given that it wouldn’t seem like a great reference when right wing parties in the UK are actively participating in an attempted breakup of the EU. Seems kind of the opposite of what some people in WW2 were fighting for. But I didn’t know what the intention was so I figured a light-hearted jibe would do the job.
