For some reason it's 2022 and companies still insist on launching online games as though they intend for them to fail

They've now patched the requirement out but... Jesus

Way to nail your colours to the mast from the start.
I was mildly interested as a few people have been talking about it, but it's just loot boxes, charms, costumes and a requirement to know all your information.

Is there actually a game in there or are you just paying for the privilege to have your data mined?

It's actually still a terrific game. Brilliant and long-overdue update. New maps, modes and character tweaks are excellent. And, apart from the sluggish start when servers were jammed, it runs brilliantly (PS4 version played).

I tried to get on last night, but servers were jammed due to DDOS attack.

For anyone that enjoys FPS team games, please give this a try. It's FREE. It's not pay to win either. Characters have no progression. You just have to get good at a variety of characters to support your team as events unfold during a match. It's easily in top five games I've ever played.

Also, cross progression is now on, so you can play on PC or console and push the same account levels up (if it's anything like OW1, you'll need to play Quick Play for a few hours to reach a level where they will allow you enter competitive matches).

even on playstation? Sony are total twats about this kind of thing unless the dev's paid through the nose, feel like a hostage with a DBD and Apex accounts.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it does seem to include all platforms: https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-gb...unt-merge-faq/

It's for merging data from OW1 to OW2, but it merges multiple platforms into a singular battlenet account, which suggests it will be proper cross progression.
