is it just me or is there no list/poll?

Polls up now, it's taking longer and longer to put it together as it's getting harder to fit all the key releases into the limit of 60 options. I'm going to do the same approach for 1988 and 1989 but from that point onward I think we might have reached a wall and I'll have to think about how to do these once we move into the 90's

I had to go back and untick a bunch so I was only left with the absolute top of the year. But my number one here is very, very easy: The Lost Boys. It's one of my favourite films and I tend to watch it a couple of times a year. It's very easy watch, a lot of fun, it's very cool and it has a great soundtrack. That film has stood the test of time for me and I just love it. So while it's a great year and features the likes of Predator and Robocop and Evil Dead II, The Lost Boys comes out on top.

Only two votes for The Princess Bride?

          INCONCEIVABLE!

Couple of the best action films ever made still can't keep The Lost Boys off my number 1 spot.

Loads of films people tell me are classic, but I've never really got on with.
Also, a fair few that haven't aged well like Mannequin or The Running Man (IMHO).

However, I'll never tire of Predator and the recent 3D re-release has given it a new... dimension.

Yeah, Running Man has aged a fair old bit but by god is it fun

Predator is a key choice for this one but the older I get the more I appreciate what Robocop delivered too.

I've got a lot of time for Planes, Trains and Automobiles too

And this scene and the ending too *clinch tissues*

It is interesting to see these lists by year and to see which feel their age and which don't. Like, as '80s as it is, The Lost Boys feels pretty timeless to me. Alien and Blade Runner could be made in any decade. But just on feel, I would swear that The Running Man is a good bit older than Predator or The Terminator. It feels dated by comparison, as fun as it is (I'm not using 'dated' to mean anything particularly negative - just on how it has aged in feel).

Whereas for some reason, The Witches of Eastwick (which I'm not a giant fan of anyway) feels to me like it came a good bit later than a lot of these movies. I probably would have guessed that was early '90s.

Faulty memory, I guess, but often based on just how the movies felt or looked or, maybe sometimes, how they were marketed.

The Running Man is great fun still, but a recent re-watch surprised me how basic it was.

It doesn't help that I've fallen in love with the original book and the stellar delivery of the audiobook by Kevin Kenerly.

This was a tough one, but I eventually chose 'The Lost Boys'. It's such an iconic '80s classic that has always been in my Top 20 films. The script, cast, chemistry, all perfect. I'll always enjoy going back to it for a slice of '80s magic.

I was close to choosing Planes, Trains and Automobiles, because it's probably my favourite comedy of all-time. I love the chemistry between Martin and Candy. A truly funny film that flows perfectly.

Just behind are Predator, The Running Man, and The Princess Bride. All of them offer top quality entertainment and stand the test of time well.

Innerspace was such a special film back in the day -- I absolutely loved it. Who's That Girl is a fun, lighthearted movie that I've always liked.
