    Apparently this source has accurate form from leaking info on BF1 and BF5. The claim is that a new Battlefield will launch with this as a side offering as was done with Modern Warfare Remastered.

    I'd be fine if this doesn't pan out TBH. For me, Battlefield 4 ended up wiping out the need for BF3 and the Battlefield franchise has done enough backward direction for one generation.

    Pointless.

    I've got a feeling this will kill the franchise entirely if true. If they want me to sit up and pay attention remake Battlefield Bad Company 2 already...

          Yeah I'll be honest the portal stuff looks great. I just hope the classic maps aren't just locked away in this sandbox compendium and can be played elsewhere as well...

            It looked like something BF players won't use for more than a passing moment (and almost all of it was CG) - with BF games in the past, it eventually ends up with the core of the player base playing one game mode across 2 or 3 different maps on rotation - trying to get a game in the other modes and different maps becomes next to impossible.

              Yeah this is why I asked.

              I'd love a standard conquest map rotation across classic maps where it defaults to that maps era weaponry just in the main servers... Don't really care for user created content as much but happy to go looking for it.

              To me this is a bit like Halo. It has its Forge and user content but it's the core content curation that matters as that's what most will play.

              In fact, now I think of it this is more like Halo MC Collection...

                The idea is interesting and if you've got a bunch of mates you can create private matches with using this then it'll work - but if you're just doing rando games, you're always going to run into that most popular mode issue.

                22nd October release date, so it's only three months out.

                  They said that there will be some already set up for us to have a go on, so hopefully even if user-created stuff ends up being underpopulated, there should be some battles going on.

                    Portal could be the return of 1943's air superiority mode, though with out a map built for looping around mountains poking out of the sea it would be short lived.

                        There's no DLC tho - don't forget that - just the season FOMO

                        Are the specialists earnable in-game, or is the only way to get them to purchase the season passes? Edit looks like you can earn everything but pressumably if you pay, it's all unlocked straight away: https://www.gameinformer.com/e3-2021...ree-vs-premium - and that'll be where the FOMO comes from to get you to pay.

                          With some Googling you'll be able to find footage from the Battlefield 2042 Alpha that's running atm as takedowns and players battle to provide footage of the game.

                          The bad news seems to be that in-game it doesn't seem to be much of a looker.
                          The good news is that it at least comes across as very reminiscent of BF3/BF4 so I remain hopeful

                            It looks gash but yes, it is an alpha. Apparently the download was very small (by today's standards), so not actually much stuff in the file.

                              It's 17gb iirc. Had a go yesterday and it was capped at 30fps. Technically it's a mess but you know, it's Alpha. What I found interesting was all the new gadgets. There's pretty much a hookshot from Zelda that can attatch to anything within range, that's pretty cool. had a quick go on a drone in the recon loadout and you can pretty much hide, summon the drone and fly above all the action and just start spotting people for free.
