Neither London or the country will be locked down. London is more important than human life and the tories arent aware of anything above the Thames.

It's irritating to me that it's very clear that many cases come via meat processing plants (probably due to the low temperatures and close proximity of staff), so any areas with a lot of them will inevitably get more cases, but there seems to be zero support for that. Many of these workers will also be having to get public transport (which is still substantially reduced here), spreading it to anyone else unfortunate enough to be on the bus with them.

I suspect we'll see local lockdowns for far too long and the virus will grow out of control in the run up to Christmas. Local lockdowns are just whack-a-mole in approach and the winter is going to play havoc. The Tories have ably shown their unwillingness and inability to react to other countries virus outbreaks and approaches.
Number of England deaths was 5 today. Cambridge analysis estimates the death rate per day will be between 47-91 in two weeks time and that new cases are currently increasing by 3,200 per day.

It’s clear that trying to eradicate it or bring risk down close to zero is not a priority. There is an acceptable level of infection and death that they’re happy to keep bubbling around over a very extended period of time. So even if those numbers are ‘under control’, it will eventually lead to a stupid number of avoidable deaths and avoidable illnesses as time passes. This feels unacceptable to me and it’s what we’re dealing with locally. And what feels crazy to me is that, if they did do a full genuine lock down and did it well, they could then reduce risk to a point where they could get back to business as usual for large industry sectors. Instead, trying to force them out when not ready is going to cripple them very slowly until there isn’t much to save if cases get out of control and new full lockdowns are needed. Lots of dead people does not make for a healthy economy except in the funeral sector.

I do have a bit of an issue with their numbers still though - they're still not showing number of people tested, only number of tests processed - these are not the same thing.Last edited by MartyG; 06-08-2020, 16:00.

The amount of bad stories about test and trace make it look like the service and testing are useless for reliability. There should be enough info now to give a reasonably accurate daily infection figure because it's sure as hell higher than 950. It's still ridiculous that the official death figures still exclude so many as well, they need to stop soft balling the threat.

Corbyn and his campaign team have accused Labour officials of sabotaging the 2017 election campaign costing them victory.
The Preston local lockdown enters effect.
And I'm a Celebrity will be based in a British Castle for its 20th Series. To be honest, might be the best thing to happen for the show, I could never believe how this ran and ran and ran without ever changing up the setting, if ITV keeps making it then it's beyond time they mixed the formula up anyway.
