That Smart Delivery list is PR fluff out the gate - very first title on the list is Assassin's Creed: Valhalla that doesn't at all tap into the power of Series X. MS needs to be much more discerning about what it allows on that list so as not to undermine even further perceptions of the systems abilities.

It’s still a massive mistake to release the hardware with no system selling IP .... better to give Sony a head start than to flail out of the gate losing face

SONY? What proven system selling IP did the PS1 or PS2 launch with ?. Other than Fantavison the PS2 didn't even launch with any In-House software, much less do anything the DC couldn' handle in its sleep

To be fair, Playstation launch line ups are typically awful. Much of the first year usually is. It speaks wonders to perception of the brand and each predecessors later years that so much momentum carries them into the next console whereas for MS they lack that good will and critically... Xbox just isn't a cool brand.

What about the PS2 in Japan. How many leading IP did it launch with and other than Fantavision ... How many In-House exclusives did it launch with?

Yeah it was. In Europe and USA anyway

Like Ridge Racer and WipeOut were not strong, exclusive titles for launch. Not only were they launch games, but two of the best across the entire history of the system. Sony spent millions on making sure people knew how cool they were.

Likewise for Ridge Racer V and Tekken Tag Tournament. Not only were they launch games, but two of the best across the entire history of the system.

Sony are launching the PS5 with Spiderman. There simply isn't a hotter mainstream IP in the world right now. It's certainly better than launching with nothing at all.

So true, and far better than the game on offer too
