Bloody hell. Another duffer of a year.

X2 is the only thing on that list I'd watch again.

Yeah, not a lot to love in that list ... went for City of God and A Mighty Wind.

That’s a pretty poor list but City of God is really good and X2 is still the best X-Men film.

Is that a theme song to one of your erotic thrillers?

It’s the song the sing in the rousing end sequence of Body Heat.

Why are most of these films in the poll? Is it every film released theatrically?

Pretty much yep, over the course of each round we cover almost every wide and limited release film throughout the year so there's no risk of missing something out that either individuals have a liking to or performed poorly but later grew in appreciation. Round 1 here generally covers all wide releases from Jan-May that year, though I'm assuming Kangaroo Jack isn't today a cult classic

Ah right I didnt know how you divided the films. In chronological order is great. I looked at some with bad comments and was confused as to how oscar winners weren't in the list....now I know. Good work as always!

Needs a "none of the above" option - nearly voted for Biker Boyz for giggles.

Edit - I missed Identity when I first looked through the list - it's not truly film of the year, but it stands out above most of the drab movies in the first part of this 2003 list.

I think X2 and Bruce Almighty had something for them - but Holes is also a great kids' movie, in the 80s/Goonies ilk. Also, though it's objectively bad, I enjoyed Bulletproof Monk after a few beers.

I would say, though, Daredevil... It's one of those movies which comes up high on a list where director's cuts really improved it. The cinematic version is tosh; it was watchable at the time but super-hero movies were still gaining momentum and you'd never want to watch it today... But the director's cut really improved it. Turns out that originally, the entire movie involved around one court case, which was cut from the film. But all of the major events of the movie revolve around this case. It doesn't make it great, but it definitely makes it better and adds a lot.

Wow, atrocious year. But, hey, we got City of God, which is an incredible film. Voted for that, and nothing else.

Also, this thread has reminded me to see A Mighty Wind. Never seen it but I love Spinal Tap and Best In Show
