      January 2021
Already the first month of the year is behind us and the first total is in:

      £103

All on PSN credit to pick up the Hitman trilogy as well as some VR titles like Moss in the sales.

On Track to Beat Lowest Year Spend Record: No

Bad start, February is looking pretty clear but that's what I usually say. If I manage to spend nothing all month then I'll just about be back on track.

        January
        SnowRunner: £10.99

        February
        XCOM 2: £2.80

        Total: £13.79

Doing OK so far. Think I'm going to hold off on 3D World, its not going anywhere.

Early update because this months total is already a hard lock:

          February 2021
Second month in and the dearth of releases means it's much easier to keep costs down. Very little of real worth on the horizon too so...

          £0

In terms of money lost I'm eyeing up Mass Effect collection which isn't till May so things are looking rosey right now again.

On Track to Beat Lowest Year Spend Record: Yes

Despite how much more in line I am now it's barely on track to beat my lowest spend, I'll need several frugal months to hit the mark.

Aiming for below £750 this year which I think is doable if I stick to major titles only and a few PSN / eShop sale titles.

            Xbox Series S Console - £240

Calling February now too. Nothing due in the next few days and nothing in the digital sales on either Switch or PS that interest me.

            £114.34 isn't bad.

March could be close to £0 unless Kena gets a confirmed release date in tomorrow's State of Play.

Looking highly likely that March will be a £0 now!! Kena in August.

I built a new small form factor gaming PC in January. It turns out it's not the most affordable time to build a new gaming PC right now, regardless of the form factor!

My total spend was was EUR 3,241.69. That includes a new 1440p 144Hz display, to take advantage of the new GPU's capabilities. It's safe to say I won't be buying any new games for a while. At last there is time for all those Steam games I impulse-bought during various sales throughout the years and never played more than a few minutes of. Hurrah for silver linings, I guess.

I'm done for March so I'll post this update now but sweet jesus... what have I done?

                    March 2021
Spend for the month - £1046

That covers all sorts. From Quest 2, the elite strap, games for the Quest, a Series S, charge kit for the controller, W10 adaptor so it'll wirelessly work with the PC too, dev mode fee, some backwards compat titles like MGS collection and Orta and Asuras Wrath, some paid upfront preorders for things like Ratchet and Returnal and one or two PS5 games reduced like Watch Dogs Legion and COD.

So, at this point there's no point me marking if I'm on course to beat my record for a year as it's been utterly annihilated. The absolute best I can achieve is it being in the top 5 but that looks unlikely too.

                      April - £0.00
Finally, clawing it back this month. May could go either way but it'll be sub-£100 at most.

                        May - £258
Got away from me again thanks to a retro frenzy. I seem to be in this position a lot but June... should be... quiet.

Huzzah! Two months in a row, in the process of having a thorough clear out of things which has helped cover stuff nicely.

August is currently looking like a hat trick scenario though at some point I need to look at how/if to commit to BF2042
