A years releases have come and gone with the culmination now being these last contending games as the closing hours of 2020 draw to a close. It's finally time to decide:

How were 2020's games compared to past years?

Even though one of my font-runners (Yakuza) isn't there it was still hard to not vote for a couple in that list as there have been some great games this year. Doom Eternal and Hades are real stand-outs though ... both delivering near perfect gameplay and progression. LoU2 deserves a shout for being so much more than it needed to be.

TLOU2 and GoT were one hell of a way to end (what we thought) was the PS4 first party software output.

Genuinely - it has to be Flight Sim 2020 or HL:Alyx.

I know that not everyone had the means to play either due to hardware required but both are astonishing technically and so well put together. Both have seriously raised the bar for sims and VR games.

I’ll give it to Alyx purely for its VR implementation. Exquisite.

I've been enjoying it on Switch and PC but I really, really want Hades to now come to the next gen consoles in full 4K goodness.

Well deserved all round, same goes to Astros play room as well (though admittedly I haven't played it personally).
