    BPX054: Pandemic at the Disco

Though Coronavirus first reared it's head in the world during 2019 for the UK it was more broadly around a year ago now that it began to unsuspectingly work its way around the population before case numbers reached a point where it began to gain greater notice later in February followed by the first national lockdown of the nation in March.

So far the virus has infected millions of people both at home and across the globe however in a majority of cases the symptoms are minor or the carrier is asymptomatic meaning some won't even know they have had it. We all know though that the more you are out or socialising the more at risk you are of being exposed to the virus and it is very aggressive when given the opportunity to spread to as many people as possible also.

One year on, looking back at your activities and socialising over the course of the last year have you had Coronavirus and if not having had a confirmed case do you suspect you might have had it?

Considering what I do for a job - travelling to multiple places a day and constantly in contact with the public - I am amazed / blessed that I haven't had Covid.

I've been very careful through the whole thing and the only time I might have even remotely suspected I had it, I got tested and was negative. So I haven't had it. But it disturbs me that I must have caught something. So we're at risk even playing it pretty safe. I guess it was while grocery shopping or something.

Anyway, I'm very thankful I haven't had it and I don't want it now. It would suck to go this long not getting it and then to get it.

Without valid test data, cannot say definitely, but it's unlikely given I've been minimising contact with the outside world since March 2020.

I've barely been outside for months.

That being said, we were quite panicky at the start, as Blobcat and I got very ill in Feb last year after dealing with a client who had just come from Wuhan - like they called up and did the whole "it would only be proper to let you know that x is ill and just came back from Wuhan a week ago"...

Fortunately (or unfortunately? I guess? I mean might've been nice if we'd actually had it and found out in retrospect) we just had a really bad bout of flu - Blobcat has since had a negative test for antibodies which suggests she's never had it.

I don't know anyone who has died from it or been very ill first-hand, but I have several coworkers who have, for example, coworkers of their spouse or family members who have died.

Haven't tested to confirm, but I've become pretty much a total recluse and have not been outside a mile radius of my flat since Feb. Worked from home, all groceries delivered, and so on. I'm in the extreme risk category, so I suspect that if I had caught it at some point, I'd have known about it.

Whilst having no evidence of it at all as I've not been tested there is one suspicion point for me which was mid-late February last year. Myself and my mother both suffered from something which in hindsight wasn't Flu or a typical cold and meets all the usually listed hallmarks given for the virus, the cough was a persistent and hard little bugger as well in the subsequent weeks. But, cold viruses being cold viruses there's no way of knowing but it always comes to our minds as even at the time before COVID was being mentioned regularly we felt the illness felt odd to us.

My wife works for the NHS and in her office three people had it on three separate occasions since last year, we’ve both tested negative once.
I’ve been working for an “essential” retailer since August last year and the amount of people I’ve come into contact with, I’m surprised I haven’t had it, hell both of us may have and not had anybody symptoms. At one point I was one of a handful of people wearing a mask in store AND taking flack for it last year, before it all became mandatory.
Missus has had injection 1 already with second due in April, no idea when I’ll get mine considering I come into contact with literally hundreds of different people every day I work, which still concerns me.
