The best pick-up-and-play games for PS1?

Question - what are the best pick-up-and-play games on the PS1?

To clarify, the PS1 was home to many great RPGs etc. but I'm talking about games like Ridge Racer, where you can boot them up, be in-game in a flash, and just play them over and over. No story or lengthy intro. Arcadey stuff.

What do you think the best titles are on the platform for this?

Some of my favourites are Tekken 3, Vib Ribbon and Gran Turismo.

Oh man, I have this for Switch It's MIND-SHREDDING. Something about it leaves me really mentally exhausted.

How is the PS version compared to the Neo version? Only ever played the Neo one.

I'm still waiting to get a physical copy to try it. I love the Neo Geo version though. First played it at the Heart of Gaming during a Bordersdown meet up and got it on Switch when Hamster put it out.

I only ever played the demo before its release myself, but I've seen plenty of it since and am aware that it does get a decent amount of love. It does suffer a bit from being a 3D shooter at the time when a lot of the groundwork for 3D games was still being worked out; it does some odd camera angle tricks, and some of the scenery is difficult to tell apart from debris that'll hurt you, but it's still pretty decent - particularly so for a studio that wasn't an established player in the genre.

But it has to be the Japanese version of Bishi Bashi Special TWOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The UK release was sanitised and I think had a couple of the games removed.

PS1 Doom is both simple in gameplay and brilliantly executed?

Like most I'd probably lean towards the shooters, fighters & puzzle titles to be honest but wakka came up with probably my favourite pick up & play title ever Tony Hawks 2
Nothing like firing it up banging out some freestyle & then turning it off absolutely covers the meaning of pick up & play IMO

Also worth including would be Dave Mirra & No Fear Downhill
No Fear isn't great but for a quick blast it's not that bad
