    HD not formatting

    me again....

i took the old 1TB HD out of a laptop and it wont format, via windows or diskpart. using quick and full.
in device manager it shows as healthy primary partition, but when i try formatting it fails every time.

using crystal disk it says its Good.

any other way to try format it?

also tried powershell and no joy. gets to around 9/10% and fails.

Are you able to remove the partition with diskpart (command line app) or in computer management?

it shows a full drive (932gb) single partition, its shows as clean, just when i try to format it fails.

trying powershell again fat 32 and its now up at 20% fingers crossed

edit* failed at 20%, looks like this is a duff disk, glad i swapped it out.
report says bad sectors encountered during format.

I’d had a similar problem trying to fix a friends laptop recently. Weirdly I just hooked the offending drive up to my Mac and disk utility sorted it.
