All I know is that Pikmin 4 is easily the most solid Unreal Engine game I’ve ever seen. A few stutters here and there, but that’s about it.

It’s also the most gorgeous Pikmin game by a considerable distance.

This is very impressive and whilst not remotely useful for the Switch it's a good barometer of the capabilites of the existing Switch when setting expectations of the next successor console and why those clamouring for Switch 2 to have a 20 minute battery and enough power to turn the Earth's axis need to take a cold shower

Nintendo Switch comfortably third on the all-time console (home and handheld) list with 129m units sold globally in its lifetime.

Is there any outside chance of it catching the DS (154m) and the PlayStation 2 (155m) as it nears the end of its lifecycle with its successor on the horizon?

Personally, I wouldn't have thought so....but who really knows for sure?

If they drop the price before this holiday period and get enough games out in the next 12-18 month I reckon they could manage it by end of 2024 fiscal year.

Always good to see Nintendo in such rude health. They are money grubbing bastards but a totally unique company. And when they make a good game it is always a really ****ing good one.

I feel like, given the numbers the system is doing, Nintendo won't drop the price until Switch 2 is already out. At that point it'll probably have a very short shelf life in terms of sales. The current sales numbers mean they don't need to take the hit, they just need to stay quiet on Switch 2. Whilst people clamour for an announcement I wouldn't be surprised if we hear tons of leaks and rumours but nothing official from Nintendo until Summer 2024 ahead of a fall launch. All in all, I don't think it will surpass NDS and PS2's sales figures but only because they will prioritise a transition to the next system.

Nah.

Wouldn't put it past Nintendo to use AI for Mario's voicing going forward. God knows they've already got nearly thirty years of Martinet recorded and seeing as he's staying with the company in an ambassadorial role (whatever the hell that'll mean), I doubt he'll object too much.

Yeah I reckon they’ll just AI it. There’s ample training material and Mario doesn’t say much anyway. I wonder if Martinet’s voice was becoming unsuitable due to age.

They have said there is a new voice actor for Mario Bros Wonder but haven’t said who it is. Hoping for Hal9000.
