    Booting Jap on Pal Dreamcast

Ok? I bought Super Street Fighter X and Vampire Chronicles about two months ago, but when I try and boot them with Utopia boot disk, Action Replay or Game Shark they run but its zoomed into the top left corner? Why is this? its never done it on any other jap games I own. I also tryed it on a Chiped Pal DC which would also run the games zoomed in.

I herd it could be to do with the Scart lead? is that right?
Any one know if the DX-C or DC-IE boot disks will also do this?

A VGA box is your friend for those games. I don't think either of them are RGB-compatible.

I get the same Problem with:

      Skies of Arcadia US
Rent a hero No. 1 JPN

For skies, I used my DC RF lead, and it was fine. The game was full screen, but a little blurred and washed out due to the RF signal. Try an RF lead if you can.

For Rent a hero, due to them using some weird signal output, it wont actually run on a PAL DC, no matter what.

To play RaHn1 you MUST have an NTSC DC.

I dont about your 2 games personally, but try an RF lead. If that doesnt fix it, then Im afraid it might not work on a PAL dc.

I also had a problem with ikaruga, I used various boot discs, and my Japanese version still only loaded up in 50Hz with big borders and slowdown.

      Goodluck dude

      EDIT:
I have no idea about the VGA boxes, it might work, never used one.

        They are not RGB compatible
You need a composite or S-video lead and and NTSC compatible tv to play them. A DC-X or DC-IE woun't make any difference to the result

SSF2X for matching service is RGB compatible, but I doubt thats the version you have if you're having these problems

DC-X will make Ikaruga run at 60hz, Its the very best boot disc available.

Slight mistake on my part, However SSF2X FMS is definately NOT RGB compatible and its the only version of SSF2X thats available on the DC.

SFZ3 FMS adds RGB where as the original didn't.

As I understand it, there was _only_ a matching service version of ssf2x. All versions have the modem vs modem play built in.

I've just checked mine; it has the subtitle 'For Matching Service'.

There are two bits of confusion over whether some rgb enabled versions of ssf2x exist.

First of all some people playing rgb patched cd-r versions claimed the game supported rgb, without realising there might be a difference.

Second of all it was thought that perhaps the budget re-issue might have had rgb enabled, possibly as a result of some people claiming they had an rgb enabled version as above. No one has yet to confirm this.

Now... Japanese TVs don't have rgb scart. There is no reason at all why later releases of ssf2x would have been rgb enabled.

So I'm fairly certain all legit editions of ssf2x are non-rgb.

Does Border Down works good with a Boot Disc for a PAL DC?

yep, I played it with utopia for a while, 50 Hz RGB. If you use a DC-X you should be able to get 60Hz RGB working fine
