Panasonic 3DO video quality?

I've had three NTSC Panasonic FZ-1 3DO's. In all of them the s-video picture has been pretty bad. The picture isn't much sharper than composite and the picture is a bit too bright. At least the s-video picture is stable (unlike what you always get with composite). One of the machines had an RGB-mod but the picture wasn't really any better than the s-video only it wasn't as bright. I was just wondering if this is a problem with all the other 3DO models and if there is a way to improve things.

I've got an FZ-10 and the picture through S-Video seems fine to me... not as good as RGB obviously but loads better than comp...
