    How phat is your connection?

I've opted for the 1.5mb NTL line, will this be ok for Halo2 and SFIII?

It gets installed tomorrow. Well can't wait.

Also, does anyone ever have any probs with the 2month Live trial offers? I'll be using that until I can be arsed handing over ?40.

If you're playing SF3, you'll need a stick, and therefore can't use a headset anyway.

We need you on SF3 dude! !! :X

I have AOL 1mb platinum service but just got an email informing me I am getting upgraded to 2mb. Free! Woohoo!

          I just love freebies!

Also just found out all packages on AOL are getting their speeds doubled.

512/256 is all you need to play on Live mate, although your mileage regarding hosting will obviously vary per title.

1MB. Although I'm thinking of moving over to an 8MB service that was recently linked to in this forum when my contract is up.

2Mb for me though have been tempted to move on to the 4Mb service though they bloody send you the details and then you ring 'em up and they say that's for new cuxstoemrs only. If you want it, we'll have to disconnect you and then reconnect you which could take up to 4/5 weeks...yeh right! What you doing, building a new exchange, rubbish..?

So, like Concept, I'm gonna sit tight till that 8Mb line comes on around March and then see what other deals are about as with all the llu going on they should be quite good.

We've got 10mb here at the school and you get like 600k per sec downloads. Like that's needed! LOL!

What I meant to ask was... Can I expect any major lag with 1.5mb, if people are content with 256/512 then I suppose that's a no.

I'll be on Halo 2 tomorrow night from 8pm anyhow. Only played it once before on Live.

I have 1mb* Blueyonder Cable and that's fine for Xbox Live.

*That's what they SAY anyway...but I've downloaded programs at 500K/s+ and my average download speed is now about 150k/s. Anything below that is slow for my connection Fastest I've ever seen it download was 1.2mb/s from IGN!!!

If there was ever any doubt, Telewest are bloody superb

What you have is 1 Mega bit (notice the small b?) per second. Not 1 Mega Byte (notice the big B?) per second.

There are 8 bits to a Byte.

So therefore you have 1024 / 8 Mega Bytes per second. Which will give you download rates of 128KB a second.

If you ever see it higher than that, it's Windows reporting gone bad. But yeah, that's perfectly fine speeds for Xbox Live. I used to run mine on 512Kbit connection shared with 2 other people and it ran flawlessly.
