Tales of Earthsea is on Film4 on Sunday 12th April at 2.45pm, and Thursday 16th April at 6.45pm as well.
It's no Sprited Away I know but I enjoyed this film when I rented it, and thought it was very underated.
I must say though that being Goro Miyazaki's first film Tales of Earthsea is certainly not your atypical Ghibli; in part the film reflects the apparent animosity (?) Goro feels towards his workaholic father. I think the change of style and direction brought by the fresh mind of Goro Miyazaki alone was the reason why I enjoyed the film much more than I thought.
I'll certainly be watching the film again.Comment

I still think its ****. Its badly directed, full of plot wholes and none of it makes a lick of sense. I suppose it might be somewhat familier if you've read the books, but it should stand alone on its own.
I haven't read Howl and i still manage to enjoy the film, in fact its one of my favs of ghibli's works.Comment
