Isn't the PS2 PAL version of one, or both, of those meant to be buggered up and unplayable?

I don't know anything about that. The Xbox versions are said to run better though.

PS2 Taito Legends 1 doesn't let you use anything apart from a DualShock2. That alone makes it "buggered up and unplayable" and I seem to remember there being something else wrong with it as well...does it save high-scores and allow the button config to be edited?

All I know is that I put my copy up for sale within 10mins of it being unsealed.

No complaints with the PC versions though. Get them if you have a decent controller.
