    Saints Row 2 360/PS3

Can't believe someone hasn't started this yet!

This is Amazing, with a mega capital A!!

Wont give away too much, but in the short time ive been playing this, ive created a scarily realistic character of myself, car surfed?!!? and have been playing a game, in a game, killing Zombies!! Hit me up with a friend req
AaronBekir, and we can go and tear it up in stillwater!! If you enjoyed the first on even the tiniest bit, you must get this, and if you didn't, forget it and go and play it anyway!!

It looks a lot more polished than the first one, and a bit shinier, this is GTA's rather impertulant younger cousin who no one takes serious, but shows great promise!

Haven't played online, but you can just drop in and out of friends games (Co-op i think)

Everything is customisable, all your clothes and you even get your own crib to "pimp" out.

    See you in stillwater!

Why oh why did they keep the respect bar?

Having to fill it up to do missions absolutely killed the first game.

Mmm, my first impressions aren't as glowing as yours Aaron. Been quite awhile since I played the first one, and I've only been on this for about 30 minutes, but so far seems more like a XBox/PS2 game than a 360/PS3 one.

      Couple of examples...

Overtook a lambo type car, slammed on the brakes, jumped out ready to take it and it had already disappeared. Went into a casino and as I got near the roulette tables, the wheels fell off the tables and rolled/bounced away

Had dumpsters 'bouncing' into place as I've driven past and had people bounce into the air instead of falling off of chairs etc.

Also, don't think I like vehicle handling, seems a bit abrupt - almost instant stop on braking, you can do 90 degree turns at speed - that sort of thing.

Loved the first game, but at the moment a bit disappointed with this.

Only played a little bit of this (basically did a couple of missions) and it is not too bad. It is very "silly" in its set up from the get go, the whole

        plastic surgery

thing so you can customise your character is a great example of that! When you do a mission where you drive around a

truck spraying people and buildings with waste

, you pretty much know what type of game to expect!

The main structure from previous game remains intact here though. You gain respect (by doing activites/side mission) to do the main missions is still there however you can now gain respect in many different ways. You gain respect for driving, killing and loads of other crazy stuff so this aspect of the game is far less annoying than the previous game.

Graphically it is pretty decent for an open world game but nowhere near the standard of GTA IV. Everything has a "shiny" look it much like the previous game.

As Aaron mentioned, it was pretty cool when I just randomly jumped on a car and a surfing mini-game started up. Then when I tried to do a handstand I got thrown off the car, crazy stuff.

Seems like there is a lot of fun to be had here if you don't take the game too seriously. It is not GTA IV and I don't think it is really trying to be it anyway.

The more i hear about this game, the more i want to play it. Its a shame i didn't manage to get it for £16 off Tesco. Oh well.

Do you need to play the first one to get the most out of it in terms of story? I never finished the original sadly, it came out at a time when there were better things to play. Luckily this has a good week or two before the majors come out.

I keep hearing people bash the visuals, comparing them to GTA4's - personally, I couldn't think of a worse game to compare them to. Sure GTA might have more object and texture detail, but the absolutely awful view distance and the fact that the game looked nothing like HD on the whole completely ruined the experience for me.

The first Saint's Row looked nice to my eyes, very colourful and more "exaggurated" than GTA was - if the second game is an improvement on that then I'll be happy.

I wouldn't say you need to play the first to get the most of the story, cos the actual story is pretty weak. You might not know some of the characters you meet and why you're friendly with them and so on but after a short while with the game, it won't really matter.

In 3 hours play I have

Driven a flaming atv, stared in Fuzz the tv reality show, gone loco with a samuri sword, collected hoes, revived folks in an ambulance mini game ,took someone hostage for cash and mugged some woman that was giving me to much chops

So far its looks ok,but everyone knows its no looker, better than mercs2 not as good as gta4.
Plays much like the first one but reminds me of gta3,that was fun before it got all gritty.

But this is just silly fun and it knows it

In a cut scene a news reporter was doing an interview,in the background a injured cop was being helped up by two cops,a third one walks up and whips out a camera phone the 3 on the floor start poseing for shots

Spent a couple of hours on this last night. My god it is cheap.

Anyway, I created what I hoped would be a Patrick Bateman style yuppie but for some reason he's got a Latino voice. I drove around for ages just trying to find a shop that sold suits but failed to do so.

Did the first proper mission (evicting the lousy bums from under the church) and dossed about for a bit, throwing people off cliffs and into the path of traffic. Seems quite enjoyable but man is it cheap.

Cheap in what sense? Production values, or that fact that throwing people in order to kill them is cheap?

                      Throwing people is fun!

The whole look and feel of it is cheap. Not too important if it's fun though, which I'm sure it will be. I mean just look at the cars when you crash - barely any sign of damage at all.

Meh, I wasn't particularly bothered by any problems the first game had and I'm sure the sequel isn't any worse than that.

And yes, throwing people looks incredibly fun - I've seen the trailer on PSN - out of windows or infront of trains, I really do hope those occasions aren't scripted.

If you like co-op buy it simple as that guys

                          BAD
It looks like a upscaled PS2 game and it either looks crap or average. Handling is arcadey in the cars

                          GOOD
The whole game is 100% co-op online for 2 people. That includes all the missions even the training start and it doubles the enemy body count. Even the spray crap everywhere sub mission is 2 people. I played for two hours last night and at one point I did a race and friend declined but it didnt stop me from doing it on my own whilst he went on a rampage in rest of the city. It looks like every sub mission you can choose to do together or not so for me thats a fantastic idea. We even tried the arcade zombie game in the crib and that was 2players! I also dont think you need to know out about the 1st one as it goes into some detail about it. I hardly played the first one but have got right into the story of the new one. The actual fighting and shooting I feel is better on this than GTA as well.

Just word of warning with the proper missions on co-op. The good thing is in the cutsecene when your both watching it in repective houses online your own character gets shown in the cutscene no matter if your the host or not. BUT the host has the character he might be helping say on that mission following him and sometimes he says stuff about the story so make sure you get a 4 door car as the other guy so you can hear him talk.

For me if you like the old style GTA or want GTA co-op 100% buy it as its great fun and very funny. I really didnt like the first one at all but this one is worth it for co-op alone

See to me, that sounds fantastic! I think I love janky games with online co-op. It's hilarious fun just trying to break the system.

Does this have any kind of video feature to capture the 'highlights'?

No it doesnt seem to have a replay system m8. See I agree I prefer the more arcadey physics on this. I dont want two exact GTAIV game physics. GTAIV is just a total different game like last night on this I hit a tree full pelt and I bounced about 30ft in the air and landed on the roof. I got burnt alive as I couldnt get out (was in a race heh). Its got samurai swords you can shove into peoples heads and when you do these finishing moves it does a camera shot of it all so what more do you want

Also some of the cutscenes had me chuckling like mad. The actual start I laughed so much my stomach hurt as I created a Haley Cropper character with the cockney voice and man was he/she a scarey munter. Was so funny watching it talk on the hospital bed with this monster Id created but I couldnt take it serious after 20mins so had to start a new one as I couldnt stop laughing. To me thats pure gold as I dont really ever laugh in games but this even with my "proper" character has had me chuckling like a immature child all over again.

And to see a female judge with a shotgun coming at you =
