    Left 4 Dead 2

So here's the HD trailer for L4D 2:

Quite surprised really, considering Valve have been pushing games as a 'service' quite a lot with the likes of TF2. Didn't expect them to (in effect) try and replace the original game with an updated sequel quite so soon. Still, will have to see how it pans out.

This a stand-alone release then rather than DLC for the original? Seems quite strange, GOTY edition of the original was only released a couple of weeks ago!

Anyways, looks like a tasty selection of melee weapons available in this. Certainly one to watch...

Standalone, yep. Hopefully the content it contains can justify it being this way, else Valve run the serious risk of being lynched by their own fanbase.

Very odd timing. The improvements sound top notch though so I'll definately be buying it. Wouldn't surprise me to see valve offer a discount for people who purchased the original.

Here's an Rock Paper Shotgun podcast with Chet Faliszek about L4D2.

By the sounds of things, this is in a playable form already.

Bit disappointed it's a sequel rather than addon, but it's Valve and I'm sure they know what they are doing!

Apparently they are also looking at including LFD campaigns on the LFD 2 disk as well.

Videos of it in action I was initially sitting here thinking, '**** you Valve, I only bought the first game last year!' but watching them videos and reading about it **** it, I'm there day one. Considering the number of hours I've had (and still do get) out of L4D they can take my money.

I've just noticed in the E3 trailer that the Tank is wearing red neck styled dungarees

                Brilliant

Nice, I mean - not so cool that they just removed the orginal team out from under us, I feel quite attached to bill and crew.

But really nice that a lot of new content is coming and soon - will make a lot of people very happy

They could release L4D2 at a ?100 price point and I'd still be stoked. Didn't expect this at all.

Well at the minute it isn't, a lot of people (understandably) feel shortchanged about it being a sequel more than likely at full price rather than a DLC content pack.

It looks quite different though. It wouldn't surprise me if Valve intended this to be DLC, but then in typical fashion got completely carried away developing it until it was different enough to warrant a new game.

im like everyone else... i thought there'd be more support for the original L4D. but hey, if its in the same spirit as the first, im happy.

My main concern is the game taking place during the daytime. It could negatively affect the game's immersion somewhat, what with being able to see well into the distance and not really needing a flashlight anymore.

...That, and characters with South-American accents. Maybe that's the new horror element? (See how far you can progress without feeling the need to axe murder those teammates of yours).
