Some great music in this thread, long may it continue.
Will add some more I have not seen yet.

Promise - Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill 2 OST

Room of Angel - Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill 4 OST

Decide in the Eyes - F-Zero X Guitar Arrange

The Long Distance of Murder - F-Zero X Guitar Arrange

    Outrun - Magical Sound Shower

    LIVE version

    Space Harrier Theme

    LIVE version, hell yeah!

Polaroid - Laugh & Peace - Vib Ribbon OST

Ready Steady Go - L'arc en Ciel - Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! OST
Thought if I heard this song one more time only half way, I would break my stylus!
    Love it though.

Rave On - Masafumi Takada Killer 7 OST (all of it rocks!)

Think that's me for now, so many great songs are running through my head.
Hearing a song always takes you straight back to a specific point in time, hearing a game song takes you back to playing it. Vib Ribbon for me was one of the fist rhythm games I ever played and just hearing Polaroid brings back great memories, as does the other music.

Killer 7 Rave On was superb

        Vagrant Story Credits

I know it's credits music, but it's epic and not beaten by any game since. Needs a damn remake.

Bit of a spoiler this one, for those that played Vagrant Story, the music starts at about three mins in.

PSO Ep1 - Can Still See The Light (La la la version)

If you played PSO you should know this off by heart

Metal Gear Portable Ops - Calling To The Night

The best remix in SF4 - Cammy's theme

The best KOF theme - Tears (Arranged version)

Thinking of PSO, I used to drive my team mates mental with this by playing it on repeat.

Burning Rangers - Angels With Burning Hearts

Very cheesy but the chorus makes me smile every time I hear it

While I'm posting, Space Channel 5 part 2 Finale:

It was ages before this got a release over here so I actually prefer the Japanese version

SC5 pt 2 - This Is My Happiness

I don't thing anything as cheesy and brillant has been released since the two Space Channel 5 games.

Some of the best video game music ever came from the C64, IMO. There is just no denying the influence of its most prominent musicians and the SID chip:

                Turbo Outrun:

Turbo Outrun intro music by Maniacs of Noise recorded on a live Commodore 64. By a fan for the fans that have warm feelings of these ancient tunes. Respect ...

And the Amiga gets some love too:

And I cared nothing at all for the Spectrum back in the day, but this is VERY impressive for a machine not known at all for its audio. Tim Follin really is a chiptune genius:

Follin again: This doesn't even sound like SNES music!

                And beyond...

And this track was and still is amazing:

Castlevania SOTN had too many to mention:

                ...adn the best for last:

And seeing as someone posted F-Zero it gives me the chance to post this amazing version of Mute City

Here's a few you might not have heard before...

Parasite Eve had some great music. They did an album of Yoko Shimomura's 'greatest tracks', and there wasn't a single thing from Eve on it. For shame.

Too Human. Yes, I actually played it...

The utterly overblown character select theme from Jet Force Gemini.

Communication Breakdown from Xenosaga part 2. Poor game, but a great soundtrack.

Panzer Dragoon Orta. Never did manage to finish that.

                      some recent gems here.

World of Goo has an amazing soundtrack. Far, far too good for an indie game.
The style is similar to the music on films such as Edward Scissorhands.

                      0:55 onwards = epic

                      atmosphere...

                      mad accordion jam!

                      end credits/excellent main theme.

And the bloke who did these tunes happens to be the same bloke who did all the game's art. talented git.

More indie obscurity... The extremely cute online game "Use Boxmen".
It has a soundtrack which is happiness bottled.

love the ones at 2.30 and 5.25. I wish I could find these somewhere on the internet.

                      and now some obvious stuff

Glad to find another fan of the PEs soundtrack. I was listening to the OST earlier in fact. The music was the best thing about the whole game!
