So far I am really enjoying the game. It's unlike anything I've ever played before, and even if it's a short game, that counts for a lot. I've heard that it blossoms a bit when you get to the harder difficulty, and that the Army version is even better. Sounds all good to me.

Its not so much the length but the repetitiveness that bothers me. Inertia is the second person to include that in a mini-review I've read... I bore easily! Will probably do a rental though

I suppose I should elaborate on my earlier post. Its the cheat code to use the army version from within the game, for those who dont have the modded ability to access the .xbe and execute it.

          Cheers.

Not a bad game but not including system link is an oversight.

Without wanting to go over most of Inertia_ points again, i must add that:

              Pro's
              - the authentic look about it. Using a similar screen filter to Prince of Persia.
              - the colourful language from your squad
              - 'The Matrix' esque slow-mo when one of your comrades gets shot. Some are truely hilarious. One instance, someone got hit on the arm, yet he did a front flip - but motioned backwards 3 to 4 feet in the air. Hilarious.

              Con's
              - real lack of constant enemies. With about 4 being on screen at the same time - and that's not as frequent as i hoped (for a city that's at war, i was looking for more of a welcoming party for uncle Sam's boys. I'm playing in Sergeant-Major difficulty. Yet to try the 'authentic mode')
              - tango's spawning from the same spot. Would've loved it to have random placings to at least keep you on your toes. If you've gone through the sections enough times, then you know which area's are clear so you can rush to your next 'hotspot' without having to scout your surroundings beforehand.

I would've loved to have used the 'Army' rules within the game version.
              Things like:
              - moving your sqaud seperately (this is quite limited)
              - having to do manual Situation Reports
              - clearing buildings (though this is pretty boring in the Army version)
              - having civilians on streets, and if they are aggressive towards you or not.
              - particulary mission 6 in Army mode should've been a mission in the retail game.
              - and so on...

It's just that the game eluded to so much, yet kind of held back on some of the things that would've been beneficial.

Well, I just don't know what to make of this. Just finished the last mission and it left me feeling totally "meh". I enjoyed playing through it, and it made me want to keep playing (which a lot of games don't anymore) but once I had finished it I kind of had the "is that it" feeling. Great potential but sadly not fulfilled.

I would have preferred if they had taken the army training sim and made it into a game, there was no progression in the difficulty as the levels passed and the last objective was a bit of a joke really.

I would also have liked to see the enemies do something different than just stand behind cover and fire at you until you kill them, maybe if they ran to different "cover" areas, or if they grouped up against you. The whole game felt the same throughout, once you've beat the first level you know how to beat the whole thing.

That being said, I did enjoy playing through it but after seeing preview vids of it I left feeling bitterly disappointed. I've yet to try other difficulties, online and the Army mode so hopefully they will add to it a bit more.

Definitely worth a rent but thats about it really.

Well I got my copy today (strangely I got a second manual, printed in black and white, sealed on the outside of the sealed box), and I think the game is pretty good so far. The training wasn't all that interesting, however it was very comprehensive and shows how well designed the controls are.

The actual game is far more interesting, and I thought the intro was really rather good. There is a huge Three Kings influence in the humour, but that isn't such a bad thing. I like what I've played so far, but...I'm finding it all fairly dull at the same time. Not even finished the first mission yet (third checkpoint), so things should improve as I do.

                  Lovely presentation though.

I myself got this last night, and only went through the trainging missions, that dull yet informative. But i can see that i will get bored of it quickly just from what i have seen sofar. And from what i hear, the enemys do nothing more that duck and cover... so that may be a little bit of a let down form me...

Has anyone actually tested this to see if its region free or not?

It is not region free which mean it wouldn't work on my Crystal XBOX. Sorry Unlighty You have to wait until your work get them.

As I played it for an hour tonight and complete 4 training mission in Seragnt level. It is a quality game, but nothing like any other game I played before. I like it and it have subtitles but I don't like too much text to read in talk. Which mean I have to read fast. My 24 inches widescreen TV is hard to read.

I think it is a 4:3 TV game like Halo

I guess the thing I keep in mind is that Pandemic will hopefully be able to take what they made here, and next time use all that to make a game that is really deep and immersive. I love a lot of what's where, and the potential for even better things is pretty mindboggling if they can make a few tweaks and add a few new elements. All in all, a rock solid foundation for a stellar possible franchise.

Well I got it anyway as I'm still really keen on the concept . Hopefully I'll clock in some time on it tonight.

Got this today along with Riddick.

The use of the Mother Facker word took me completely by surprise. For a split second I thought I was playing Riddick again

Just finished it this morning, pretty dissapointed when it ended. I was expecting to go onto the next campain, so to see the end credits was a bit of a shocker.
I enjoyed the game very much, although i was expecting much more.
Hopefully the next installment will provide more meat, as the first game is a little anorexic in what it offers.
