    Indeed. Extraordinarily impressive at times.

Like Riddick says himself. "The dark... my favorite"

I'm not so sure, I mean, look at my current intro:

Ridiculous? Maybe, but although Escape From Butcher Bay is many things, it fails to explain why lead character Riddick was such a wanted man in the first place. This seems like the most plausable reason, darlings.
Don't worry, I joke. Though it would be quite amusing to carry on the 'Riddick was a camp hairdresser' thing...

      Go on, dare me

I grabbed one body that was on the opposite side of a railing and it just freaked out, shaking the body all over the place. When I pulled away from the railing I stretched the guard's body to an estimated 40 feet long because it kept one end of him attached to the railing. I did this over and over. I could even stretch his body way out, then release it and he'd ping away like a rubber band!
This is the greatest game ever made in the history of the world, ever.

What's the dealio with the eye shine?

The way he talks about it in Pitch Black gave me the impression it was some dodgy surgical procedure he went through in prison; what's with the magic in CoR when you meet Papa Joe - shazzam?! I thought that was lame.

Well MJ if you play COR longer you will see how and where he gets his Eye Shine..

Actually no, there is a fairly major inconsistency in the whole eye-shine thing.

Pitch Black - Riddick swapped 20 cigs to pay a doctor into giving him the eye shine in a max security prison

Butcher Bay - Riddick finds a voice box for the preacher, and you 'magically' get the eye shine and a voice in your head...which he somehow loses for Pitch Black and no doubt regains for the new film. Mmm, nice.

              Also, while I'm at it.

Pitch Black - Johns tells the woman pilot that Riddick is able to fly after learning when escaping from his last prison. "He also learnt how to kill the pilot".

Butcher Bay - You guessed it, Johns was the pilot, so how was he in Pitch Black?

              Daftness!

I was under the impression that Riddick is not entirely sure how he got his eyeshine. Hence trying to throttle pope Joe. If hes trying to appear a hardnut in PB he probably wouldnt say 'Well yknow im just not sure'
Riddick can pilot too, hence slamming into Hoxies office . You do kill alot of people around the ship, maybe one of those were the pilot .

finished the game last night! it was a fresh and exciting first person game experience and can only be recommended!

                  strong points:
                  - graphics (if only Doom 3 would look like this!)
                  - gameplay/controls
                  - close combat is done very well
                  - audio, especially voice acting
                  - great overall atmosphere

                  weak points:
                  - some minor graphics and AI issues
                  - too short (10 hours)
                  - too easy (normal difficulty)
                  - no really much of replay value (?)

I read that the game supports downloadable content so the length and replay value should go up a bit, all those doors you couldn't go into before, you can open after downloadable content.

Also, after playing the game a second time through I got better at the hand to hand combos and they are really fun. Making your foe shoot himself from under his chin with a shotgun is my favorite, and disarming them for their knife (shiv) is a cool feature.

The game balances stealth and action perfectly, games like SC and MG are just too stealth oriented, not enough action.

I have to say I SHIVER ME TIMBERED this game because of the late PAL release and the fact I normally hate FPS games. That said, it is lovely to play and the normal mapping makes it look proper bo.

Problem is, it hangs when an enemy yells "BASTARD!" near checkpoint 7. Probably my BARREL OF RUM copy (happens on disc or the HD), but I'll wait for the PAL release (I really want a proper copy) rather than importing so I can return it if it just doesnt like my Xbox for some reason.

Maybe a new method of copy protection ?

Stops the game going further and lets you know what Starbreeze thinks of you ?

i wonder wether the movie Pitch Black might be a worthy addition to the game's storytelling or not?

has anyone seen this movie, respectively can recommend the Pitch Black DVD?
