I agree! Especially the second stage in Gradius 5, simply wonderful!

Been meaning to get this game for ages, but wanted the Vic Viper edition with DVD (Origins DVD see link below) and finally got it a few days ago after a long and hard search.

I've played just about evey Gradius out there (and there spin off's i.e. Salamander) and the 5th doesn't disappoint, it's not frantic like DoDonPachi, but it's still awesome. Got to say though, it isn't as hard as eveyone one is pointing out, this game i'll actually complete using one credit (the way all shooters are mean't to be played), unlike other shooters such as Ikaruga.

Overall, an excellent game.
