Playing it on Normal at the mo.

It does indeed seem to make some kind of revolting farting noise when I try to use the guns, but to no perceptable effect on the screen.

How odd this is. It's nothing to do with beer either as I played AC5 before I had any last night.

thanks Darwock. already tried it out with one of the older AC games?

and how does the throttle stick work exactly? does it work fully analog, i mean can you actually just fly at a sub-max speed leaving the stick alone. or does the throttle flip back to mid speed position?

also, where did you purchase it and at what price?

      thanks a lot!

Just started playing this a few days ago and must say I'm loving it. This is the first Ace Combat game I've played and I can't believe what I've been missing out on! The action is superbly paced, the missions are satisfyingly varied and the amount of different enemies is amazing. It sounds and looks fantastic as well, this is the sort of game I've wanted to play for ages but have never found, it just so involving when your in the thick of battle and people are shouting things down your ear, I'd never have thought a combat flying game could create such an effective atmosphere. Fantastic! I love it!

On a side note is there much point in me getting the earlier games in ther series? As I'm near the end of the campaign and know I'll be thirsty for more when it ends.

Get AC04 dude, I've only got up to mission 6 in AC05 and although I really like it, I think I prefer 04. The constant chatter and wingmen advice thingy in 05 is too much for me (especially in the midst of battle). The action apart from that is largely the same (and you can restock during battle !) so you should feel right at home.

Sounds good, but doesn't the restocking make proceedings too easy?

So far I had less problems easing in AC04 then I currently have with 5 but if you're going for S-rank and all unlockable aircraft you'll have plenty of challenge on your hands.

                  Woot, the thread's been resurrected!

Good thing too, the more people that play - and love - Ace Combat games the better. As has been said though, anyone who likes AC5 would love AC04, and vice versa.

PAL version out in the month or so, so hopefully there will be more interest in it.

Spot on there mate, this game needs to be played by way people, it's just such a finely crafted piece of software. I'm near the end of the campaign however I'm thinking of starting again on expert to get a bit more of a challenge, I've been looking over at Gamefaqs as well and its good to see there are plenty of unlockables. Jesus! Why'd I have to start lovin this when Res 4 will be hear in a day.

Oops, I missed that question to me ages ago - yes the flight stick is fully analogue, you can set the throttle at 75% and leave it there if you like - although you're unlikely to want to take your hands off the controls for a second!

Just finished Ace Combat 5, and as a newbie to this series, I gotta say I enjoyed it a lot. The soundtrack is amazing, I might just have to find the OST somewhere. And I loved the feeling of invincibility you got once you heard enemies start talking fearfully about the demons of Razgriz, and pride when your allies were confident in the success of the mission just because the razgriz squadron was looking over them. And the cinematics are of course beautiful. But I'm somewhat disappointed by the ending... I thought that Namco would explain what happened to all of the characters and stuff, rather than just

explain that the war is over and Razgriz shall never fly again

, especially since the story had been such a strong point throughout the adventure. I was seriously expecting more. Anybody else felt the same way?
