I am not saying you can't be stealthy on higher difficulty levels, just that as the increase implies, it becomes harder. And since I'm not a fan of trial and error gameplay in a cinematic adventure such as MGS, or though madly running through it to get to end (it's better to keep the pacing directly fluent), I dropped for the first time playing the Solid series on to Easy. The guards weren't immediately spotting me every time I walked into an area.

I wasn't wearing a shirt when I typed what I typed. As for my stamina, I wasn't aware I had any.

Got my japanese version from PA this morning and have already clocked nearly five hours so far, as expected no english option(only got a japanese ps2 so had to make to with jpn ver) but im still enjoying it so far in japanese

Let us know how that japanese version plays randella mate. I wont be buying a US ps2 anytime soon, so its Jpn or bust for me.

It's a narrative-based game (even if you don't like the narrative). Ok, trial and error (and GameFAQs) will get you through certain sections, but honestly, I'd wait for a 'Substance' style remix with English language to get the most out of this game.

It's not trial and error at all, just common sense. Use your head and take it slow and the game's a piece of piss, not to mention much more rewarding. It's all about the camo, you don't even have to fire a shot in this game if you don't want to.

But again, you're speaking entirely from your angle, and I am speaking from mine. Just because you didn't find it trial and error on normal doesn't mean to say I didn't. You can flip the argument on it's head if you really want.

The whole reason I didn't play the game on normal for the second time is because I didn't find the game a 'piece of piss' or 'rewarding', so again, I have to ask, why should it be a bother to state the reasons why I chose to play it on easy?

The reasons were trial and error from my own personal point of view in the way I encountered the game the first around.

I'm tired. Do we really have to keep baiting the beginnings of an aimless argument that doesn't necessarily even have a purpose?

Not only that, but I've previously stated my beefs with the camo system earlier on this thread some time ago.

Isn't that the point of a discussion? *buBUUM*

Anyone tried out the save game trick with The End yet?

                    Unlockable stuff...

recently unlocked Stealth Camouflage by getting the 'Chameleon' rank. Works like an equippable item.

IMO the game is more fun on Hard/Extreme since it actually requires you to be stealthy. The guards are practically blind on Very Easy/Easy!

Let's just say the reasons I believe it's trial and error specifically relate to how I encountered the difficultly level on normal, and leave it at that, because up to now, there's just been an "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality to both our postings.

Read the earlier posts! I was talking about the Japanese version for non-Japanese speakers, moron !

I think he was continuing a disagreement we had when I said I slipped down to a lower difficulty because I found dealing with the guards trial and error on normal. Could be wrong though.

Bickering online over futile points is so much fun.

Yes so far enjoying it as i did with metal gear solid 1 and 2 in japanese but 5 hours in im having no problem with the game apart from the obvious(the story - but looking up the story on fansites as i go along is how im coping with that!)

i would of loved to have waited for some sort of remix version with english in it but i cant wait another year or so for one of my most anticipated games of the year

I have completed MGS + MGS2 and am currently playing MGS3 Japanese. I agree sum bits are trial and error. But they are never hard to complete in Japananese. Not knowing the story or for me not understanding most of it does not for me, take away as much from the game as i think some pople here think. IMO if u just want to play the game it's o.k and Substance will be out soon enuf anyway so it does not matter. I Just try and understand as much Japanese as i can and enjoy the game.

The story is a large part but at the end of the day i'm sure you will all agree MGS3 is brilliant to play.
