I have just killed The Fury - is this nearing the end? (I and I don't mean The End, cos I know that was recent, smart arse).

        You're getting there.

Incidentally, I love the fire effects at the conclusion of that particular sequence. Breathtaking.

Yeah that was pretty stunning, the boss battle was reaaaaaally easy though (guess I can't complain ).

Yeah... it's harder and slightly more irritating on normal (that's what I found first time through).

I thought that the hardest fight was

              Volgin, both times

, and the easiest two were

              The Fury

              and

              The Boss

, which I found stupidly easy

Heh, just remembered. It's so cool when

Snake fires-up that huge machine gun, and his wail builds up and up: Gnnnahhhahhhhaaarrrgggghh!!!!!!!!!!!

was it only me who found the first person aiming on the automatic weapons hard?

it was getting the gun to stay on the screen without it firing so i could aim it that had me really frustrated

i know L1 was the aim button but i just couldn't do it, is it me? am i totally inept?!?!

You can press the button in quite a lot before the weapon fires.
It seems they changed this from MGS2 where there is less play between firing and not firing.
Maybe that?s only my imagination but I think they really changed something there, and my first impression was that automatic weapons are easier to handle as well.

I tried my cousin's import copy of this last week, and I really do think Hideo Kojima is running out of ideas. The ideas he implements are starting to really deviate from the actual purpose of the game - stealth. I was shocked when one of the first tasks was to

                    kill some alligators for food

                    .

I don't want to trudge through 40-odd pages of posts to find out if it gets any better, so I'll ask instead. Does it get any better?

I might pick it up on release if it does.

First task? You don't have do that - you're actually told to stay away from the alligators. There's plenty of less dangerous food available

The jungle survival stuff is one the main themes of the game.

LOL, running out of Ideas is he... you really should play ths game, so you can eat your words

Bickering online over futile points is so much fun.
Well for a start, it wasn't even a disagreement. You must have got the wrong end of the stick with what I said, I only stated the obvious really. Not at any point did I berate you because you played the game on Easy. So really, you made something out of nothing. I'll end a message with a instead of a next time, it obviously blurred your reading skills.

Does it have a 16:9 option?

Zooming in and out of those cut-scenes is a major pain in the ass on previous versions...

It does get better Phantom, I disliked the game at the first too, but I have to say that it is slowly winning me over. There are some extremely clever ideas tucked away, some are some of the most ingenious I've seen in a long time. You don't have to kill the alligators either

This obviousness you speak of in context of our 'discussion' (if you really don't want to see it as a disagreement) is again subjective, since our interaction of difficulty within a game is judged and measured by which our own skill level fits in with the form we take it at. Since you aren't me these 'obvious' points you speak of, aren't applicable, and that's what I've been trying to continually get across. Would it make it better for you any, if I said because I struggled on normal, that I dropped back to accomodate myself for this?

Okay, let's get to the disagreement.

And since I'm not a fan of trial and error gameplay in a cinematic adventure such as MGS, or though madly running through it to get to end (it's better to keep the pacing directly fluent), I dropped for the first time playing the Solid series on to Easy. The guards weren't immediately spotting me every time I walked into an area.

The above is fairly self-explanatory to anyone who can read. It may not have been a vindictive, bite-your-head off disagreement, but our failure to agree is still evidently expressed in the above lines. Also, I never said you were personally berating me (just pointing to what you feel are the differences of difficulty level that someone such as myself occasionally falls down to), so this stick you talk of... which direction is the wrong end facing again?

If what's shown while we discussed the above points aren't in disagreement with each other, then I don't what they are. It's quite clear (to me) we differ on a point, we expressed an opinion on it, and we didn't agree. I do admit you're not of the same interpretation as me and that's why I've emphasised subjectivity. You may not classify our difference of opinion as disagreement. I, however, would, and that's why I expressed it as such.

Damn... this eye blurring condition you speak of, why, it must be catching, mustn't it?
