I'm on Act 4, stage 1. There's like a group of enemies holding a platform, surrounded by more enemies. They walk up and down and I don't know what I'm meant to do. There's a 3-part lever at the top and both sides but I can't activate (and don't know why?). Any suggestions?
I'm stuck on this bit too!!

What i can figure out is you use Joe's mach speed to make the crowds fall over then go in with sylvia to do a replay punch on the left and right of the carriage - the bit I can't figure out is how to do the hit on the top buttons of the carriage - it's really annoying!!!

    HELP!

Use sylvia and the down jump kick (zoom and down IIRC) to hit the top switch 3 times

          Anybody completed this?

I got too heavily into score attacking in 36 Chambers Mode that I just plain forgot to get back into the story mode o_O

          ------

Damn! I'm out of practice, took me ages to school Alistor - his vortex was kicking the hell out of me until realised where I'd seen it before (Charles III), a couple of SLOW uppercuts later and he was begging me to "Help a brother out"!!!

Loving the Snow Level (Reel 5), great snowball puzzle - the crunchy sound effect is spot on. Played up to the underwater Sixmachine (submarine/driller) shootemup section but I was never any good at these sections, got taken out by The Sarge then by the underwater UFO. Looks like I may have to have a few tries at this bit.

Feeling the Heroness again though. Rainbow Viewtifuls in the Bell Tower has to be the sickest thing so far in this game. Its just before you fight Alistor in a room with two Red bottles (although you only gonna need one). The multiplier is ridiculous, you can get at least 40 hits in while in SLOW before all the enemies are dead, kicking them into the bell for added (Sound) effect, then once the stage is cleared ring that bell with Mach Speed punch kicking until it shatters >_<

I've just started it again and I'm enjoying it more than before (I stopped at the end of the snow level).

I finally got past that though and now I'm a bit annoyed -

            at the boss compilation level

. Before I try it, can someone tell me if

the bosses are the same? Or are they harder?
Is it possible to heal myself between fights?

            Thanks

already tried countless times but i've still not completed a single chamber! is there some trick to master this mode? help is very much appreciated!

All though there are many chambers to play around in its all about the 5th Chamber! Play through that until you reach the end then try and improve your V rating. I can get Rainbow V in there but Saur holds the highest NTSC-UK score becomes his one SICK puppy!

In order to succeed you will need to play through without taking a hit and balance the amount of time its takes you to clear enemies against the need to have enough Vpoints. Try breaking down your setups to make sure you get as many Vs out of all the enemies on screen before hitting SLOW and going combo crazy, then you will get nice big scores and also you should be able to still be in slow when the next batch jump onto the screen for extra pwnage!!!!111!!1!!!!!

Once in SLOW I tend to favour red hot kicks if I'm in the middle of the arena or punches if I have them up against the edges of the screen.

Upper cuts and kicks tend to send them into the air, you then have to wait for them to come back down so I avoid bussin these! The clock is always ticking!!!

I work my way around the enemies dizzying them and hitting them up one punch or kick before they would die so that's I have a nice string off Vpoints then go SLOW. Saur introduces Sylvia into the mix a lot for Replay schooling, but I tend to stick with Joe cos I'm old school!

Hope that helped, its like anything really - just learn the waves of attack and how to deal with them as quickly and with as many V points as you can!

                Then post your score here

Just finished it What an excellent game. I didn't like the middle bit tbh but it really picks up from level 4. Level 5 was great. Level 6 was...y'know. But level 7 Wow, what a fantastic set of stages. What an awesome end to the game

                  Bring on the sequel

Nice one man! Looks like you the only one in here that's finished it so far HERONESS!!1!!11!!

Didn't get on with the shooter section at all and didn't even save it for replay action - just wanted it over and done with, tbh I wasn't really feeling them in the first Joe game.

I've just ploughed through the Magnificent 5 part (man that's some triflin plot line to crowbar that in) and I'm up to that Dr Squid Head brer who keeps dropping bit of ceiling on me, the liddle punk. He getting pwned tonight though cos his patterns are so blatant.

Been a bit disappointed by all the bosses this time around. Ice Leo is minor tings - he's too much like his bruv - got to love that claw charge he does though >_< Probably my fav bit of animation in the game so far. I let him buss that on me and do a SLOW flip over it just to see him do it

Clover have really responded to peoples complaints about the original being too hard, being able to save after each Mag5 boss just feels like cheating to me! Will finish this off then go back to the original where I'm fighting the final boss on V-Rated. Once Ultra-V Rated has been completed no doubt I shall come back for more VJ2 - unless VJ VFX Battle is out by then!

I?m interested in getting either Viewtiful Joe 1 or 2 for the PS2.
However, the price for VJ2 is still quite high here in Germany (new & used), so I?m wondering if the game is worth the extra money compared to the first game.
I generally tend to enjoy games more, the less money I have to pay for them, meaning that there is no real dissapointment or loss should the game turn out to be real bad, like I recently experienced with Driving Emotion Type S. On the other hand good games can sometimes be even worth the full price...

                      Another short question:
Is it recommended to play VJ with an arcade stick?
I read that you need to keep some buttons pressed down to activate the super powers... that doesn?t really sound very comfortable to me to do on an arcade stick.

Some people proper hate Joe, its frustrating and the style can be a little off putting for them. They suckers though If you've not played the first Joe than I would say get that.

VJ2 makes more of an effort to teach you the system (there's a whole set of chambers that are designed to train you up in all aspects of heroness), but the main game and bosses in the first one are superior, plus you can find out all you need to know about the game by checking the VJ First Play thread.

I take it you don't have a GameCube (the console of choice for this Joe imo), but that's cool cos you get the unlockable Dante action on the PS2 version.

I never played it on an arcade stick though, the Cube pad just seems perfect.

Thanks very much, spagmasterswift! I?ll get the first one then.

By the way, are those "chambers" in VJ2 in any way related to the Batman-logo-featuring rap group from the US? (there is an album that?s called 36 chambers, which doesn?t mean that I?m fan of this music in general or especially fond of this particular group)

time to open viewtiful joe 2 today!

                            i'm looking forward playing silvia.

@ Balou - If you mean The Wu-Tang Clan then rest assured they are not connected with VJ beyond both the Rap Group and the makers of Joe being fans of Shaolin Kung-Fu movies

Well, old thread but thought might as well ask here rather than Q&A, just to be awkward.

Been looking for VJ2 on the cube, and found it on VG+ for around ?15. Problem is, I can get PAL VJ2 for the PS2 for a tenner. Was just wondering whether it's worth spending the extra on the cube version, considering the pad is likely to be much, much better?
