I saw some footage of Forza on a DVD from Lik-Sang yesterday and I have to say that it looked incredibly dull. I love Gran Turismo and was quite looking forward to something similar but better on the Xbox, but GT4 looks leaps and bounds ahead of it.

Well I've got and played the GT4 Final demo so should be able to give a good comparison between the two after tonight

Mind you the game has been delayed to April USA wise, so PAL wise god knows when .....

I thought it was really dull at Tokyo Game Show but it seems to have created some kind of buzz......

i appreciate the reply, david, but i'm not overly bothered, i'll just take it into work and play it on the xbox there.

It's the only demo which hasnt worked, so nothing major

Well I played the demo for about 90 mins in the early hours and thought it was great, sim racing game with a slight feel of an arcade racer (skidding and drifting in a 800bhp GT Type Ferrari )

Couple of niggly things (maybe be sorted for final release ?)
                  1. You can only use shoulder buttons for accel & brake, no button config available.
                  2. Split times appear in the middle of the screen for about 3 seconds, far too long if you want to see the upcoming bend and they are massive, not subtle like GT3 etc
                  3. the computer AI leaves alot to be desired, the amount of times I got rammed from behind was not funny.

Only little things but they affect the overall gameplay, even with the TCS/ABS & Stability switched on you can still spin the car think it does the job of being a "Arcade Sim Racer" extremely well and the ability to customize and improve car performance in the "Mod Shop" in the ful game just makes me wanna drool

There is also some slowdown, even noticeable on a corner with no other cars ! come to a bend with lots of detail and you'll see a studder here and there. Cars are drawn well, but some of the tracks/surrounding areas are a bit bland.

The Laguna track is reproduced exactly the same as in GT3 so guess it's spot on or their both wrong.

Now compared to GT4; basically GT4 is more of a sim, the more serious man's racer imo opinion, serious racers will buy both, casual racers will probably go for Forza, both great games and they'll both be in my possession once released. Gaming heaven imo.

It's boring as **** with all the assists on and automatic gears, actually worth bothering with if you turn them all off specially with the ferrari furthest to the right, feel really on the edge trying keep that going the right way round Laguna.

fear you guys are gonna feel the same with GT4 then (if you were planning on buying it)

Yup it's boring like the GT games until you turn the assists off :P

Then what happens, the game crashes?

GT4, Forza and the rest. So boring. Funny thing is, when SEGA did a totally realistic racer on the DC (F355) it was great and I really enjoyed it.

But this half way house realism of GT and Forza... it's just so pointless. One or the other, and the other is Out Run 2 which is awesome beyond belief.
