I just unlocked Itachi yesterday and OMFG OMFG OMFG he is the sex!!!
As some of you know, I'm already a huge itachi fan from the anime so I've been playing this hardcore to get him. Hes absolutely insane in the game!
Itachi is the only character in the game who can counter other opponents' specials! down + X baby. It's really useful when some asshole likes to open all his gates on Rock Lee, and try to special you to death :3
I'm totally loving this and is by far my favourite gamecube game, single and multiplayer, even with some of it's flaws, it's highly enjoyable and highly recommended. Tom have you done a review? I can't see one for this on the site.Comment

some questions, to sway me into planning a purchase:
1.) I have a Freeloader V1.0 (iirc) and a PAL Cube. will this work for GNT3?
2.) Is there any decent translation documents available at the time? I'm sure I can blunder through like I did with the JAP version of SC2, but I'd like some stuff to make sure I don't delete my data?
3.) How are alternate costumes? (Example (latest arc spoiler):
)
4.)Temari - is she t3h w1n in GNT3? same question goes to Shino/The Third/Mr. DYNAMIC ENTRY!

After some more playtime, I can confirm this is by far the best of the three. I know people moan that it's "more of the same" but there's so much diversity in the new characters it's untrue. Just look at Chouji, he's insane!

Tom, is it really much better than number 2? I have loved both of the other games in the series but am reluctant to pay out on this just before Christmas if it isn't that big an improvement. If its a similar leap in quality between 1 and 2 then I think I will have to take the plunge.Comment

I'd definately say that it's as big, if not a bigger improvement than between 1->2. Some of the new characters are insanely different to the others. The way supers are now in a tiered system (i.e. to perform Rock Lee's super super super move you have to press Down + X twice (each time using some Chakra) and then his energy slowly drains, but his chakra bar fills up slowly, and when you land that special it takes ~75% health off) makes the game a fair bit more tactical, and just check out the character rosters, there's loads more.
The story mode is now no longer a case of finishing round after round, there are specific tasks to do (i.e. with Naruto, beat Orochimaru with a 6 hit combo buffered into Rasengan (his second level super)) which makes it loads different to the second game.
If I were you, I'd get it if you know you loved the other games. If you decide you've had too much Naruto, it'd get a good price on the forums as the Naruto games are always well-sought after. Each time I've put a Naruto game up for sale it's been gone in less than 20 minutes

I agree, it is a huge improvement. Definitely my favourite GCN game.
Just wondering though, when I'm blocking attacks and suddenly the camera view changes, and I'm still holding back, because of the new view it makes me move forward thus no longer blocking and getting hit. Is there a way to block always?Comment

Mission 12:
Chuunin - Beat Temari with Katon: Housenka no Jutsu! (FWD + A)
Jounin - Beat Temari with Kawarimi no Jutsu! (R whilst they are attacking)
Against Itachi you just last the time out (as Kakashi) or if you're Sasuke you just beat him.

i know what the mission brief is(sorry for confusing)But i do use the fire breathing technique and i get a mission failed thingys, i need to win, oh and i did get it from gamefaqs, handy!
and itachi the last mission is impossible!!!!!!!!

Katon: Housenka No jutsu can be do in air with X. You can only do this when you are Sharingan Sasuke (Down + X, to switch to Sharingan).
It is Katon: Gokakyu No Jutsu that can be do with FWD +A not Housenka.
In the last mission, you must find the move that will work at each time you do it. For me it was Backward + B. Add B combos if you can.Comment
