Call of Duty: Finest Hour (PAL Xbox)

I did a search for this, as it's been out for a little while in the States but couldn't find one, so I thought I'd start one. If there is one somewhere could one of the mods just add this to it? Thanks.

Being a huge fan of Call of Duty on the PC I picked this one up today (for an astonishingly cheap ?29.99 might I add), and so far I've played the first few levels. As I've said, I love the PC version of the game due to the sheer impact of the game. In my opinion Call of Duty is the best depiction of the scale of the Second World War in any video game. As such I was expecting the same sort of thing from Finest Hour. Sadly, I'm a little bit disappointed. The fighting doesn't seem as real in this game. It feels more like a video game, if that makes sense. I mean, it doesn't detract much from the game itself. If there had been no other Call of Duty games, Finest Hour would be fantastic, but it just doesn't have the same impact than the PC games. It's a shame really.

Anyway, as I say, I've only played the first few levels, maybe it will get better as I progress. More later.

Has anyone got any other comments on the xbox version?

Well it's not a patch of the PC version but it's nice enought. Think it been dumed down so it can run on the PS2 .
In much the same way Medal Of Honor FL was dumed down on consoles

It's sill worth getting, expecially at the HMV price of ?29.99.

My MoH: Frontline compared to Allied Assualt, just with Call of Duty instead.

Oh, and I have been reliably informed that it does get a lot better about 3 levels in. Proper fight for survival type stuff.

i'm on the 4th level and you have to protect the tank engineer

its an alrite game but i didnt experience it on the pc, so i cant really compare it

the level previous i had to stop panzer schrek from blowing down the doors to the tank warehouse and it took a couple of attempts to get it right

quite realistic how they do down when popping them with the sniper rifle

How did everyone get on with this? I've been playing on the Cube for the last couple of days and am enjoying it quite a lot.

It's not my usual genre tbh and the closest thing I can compare it to that I've played extensively is Hidden & Dangerous which I had on the PC.

CoD seems a little 'limited' at times in terms of what it allows you to do (being stuck on the back of a jeep and only being able to shoot, not being able to dismount a tank until you reach a destination etc). Also I'm finiding it very trial and error but this could be down to the difficulty. I'm playing on medium and like I said it's not my usual genre but I have found it very hard. I was well stuck on the third or fourth level for ages but have now completed all the Russian and British missions. The first Amrican level has me stumped again and it just seems to be a matter of doing the level over and over until I learn the pattern of the enemy, what tactics work best and then stringing it all together until something sticks. I'm ashamed to say that the British 'capture the fortress' mission took me well over 30 attempts.

The first American mission is hard. I've had the game since the day of release and it's still got me stumped. It's just a matter of knowing where the enemies are going to come from, and making sure you've saved up enough health packs.

is this a port of the PC game or are the missions different?
[remember there is a PC mission pack out now folks].

From the reviews etc I've read I think it's different missions, however, I've never seen the PC game so I have no real idea, sorry.

Chosen_one: that doesn't inspire my confidence at all.

It's a totally new game. Different missions and settings. The start of the first Russian level in Finest Hour is very similar to the start of the first Russian level in the first CoD on the PC though.

Agent L: I think it'll just take some practice to get it done. It must be possible, but I've yet to figure out how.

completed it and its 1 hard game

but the best level has been saved to the very last

the battle over the nijmegen bridge

once you defeat that level you do feel proud of yourself
