    Pokemon Dash

Brought to me by santa thought i would post some first impressions.

First of all the game is so easy to navigate, even in Japanese just about anybody will be able to understand it.

All that is unlocked to being with is 1 player and multiplayer, very easy to understand due to the pictures 1 baloon for 1 player 2 baloons for multiplayer.

Within 1 player again you only have one option and funny enough its called GP, the first time you play a game you get a lot of onscreen instructions/help these were just skiped by myself and i am coping fine.

Within GP again 1 option (cup 1 i will call it) you play through a set of 5 races, within the 5 races you have to get to between 7-10 randomly placed checkpoints. The first one to get to the last checkpoint wins the race and gains 9 points. I am unsure what you get for a second of third but 4th is 2 points 5th is 1 point and last is no points. The idea is to score as many points as you can by placing as high as possible in the races.

The control method is 100% with the stylus, that includes selecting options/races and so on. During a race to run you rub the stylus in the direction you want to go, rub up the screen to run up, down for down and so on.

The only items in the game (i have come across) are speed ups and balloons. The speed ups are used automaticly but you can only carry 1 speed up at a time. There is all diffrent types of speed up for each of the diffrent types of ground surface.

The balloons enable you to travel large distences quickly or get over water. To activate you rub the arrow icon to the right of the screen (when you have a balloon) press again to start desending, or for a quick drop pop the balloons, but depending on what you land on you are stunned for a few seconds.

Overall my first impressions of the game are good. The game is very fun and the fact it has close to an endless amount of tracks (explained later) is a real bonus. During the first cup i was able to move about with ease, but for some reason the controls in the next cup are a bit less fluid, this could be due to the icy ground or just my poor gaming skills. However it takes little away from the game.

As i touched on before the game takes unlocked pokemon from all the GBA versions (Red, Green, Ruby, Saphire) and converts them into new courses. However i am yet to unlock that mode as well as about 4 other modes.

The game also offers a 1 cart multiplayer game which i will be trying out tomorrow with a couple of mates (i will let you know how i get on).

Overall my impressions of this game are good, i am currently having a lot of fun playing, however sometimes i do get a bit lost on some of the larger tracks when useing balloons as you get no indication if you are heading to the right checkpoint. This is yet top be a problem as it is always the closest one but could become a problem in later levels.

Is it worth the ?25 asking price?

For me yes, i like these sort of fun one off style racers and know the multiplayer will get some serious use.

If anybody has any questions feel free to ask away.

Sorry for the question but doesn't this game get boring after a while?
Because it looks really monotone and boring (especially after you played it for a while).
    How was the multiplayer?

Currently can't get the multiplayer working and it seams like i am the only non Japanese person that has the game.

TBH the more that i play it the more i like it, the control method is now no loner an issue i am use to zooming about all over.

The game does take a bit to get use to and get into but once i was there i can't put it down.

Well worth ?15 that play asia are asking.

The game has an almost endless amount of replay value with all the new tracks from the GBA games, it works fine with the PAL pokemon GBA games and you can store some tracks on the DS Pokemon Dash cart.

Is there any way of telling which pad you're supposed to be heading towards when you're in balloon mode? I keep getting very lost!

Sadly not, major flaw if you ask me. You just have to take note of whih way the arrow is pointing before you access balloon mode.
