    Gundam vs Zeta Gundam

The latest port of the Capcom arcade game Zeta Gundam DX is very good indeed. More specifically that of the Gamecube version. Why? The fluidity framerate/animation makes the control responsivity spot on, allowing the player to play the game how they bloody want to. It is also the only version that has four player splitscreen versus, just like the arcade basically (though the PS2 version is online in Japan).

It's by no means the best game in existence, but it is bloody good and anyone can play it (especially now that the controls are more responsive). It also pisses all over the arcade release.

Not to mention that it is the only game that can be played utterly casually (mucking about in arcade mode or versus, with a huge mobile suit roster I should add) but also delved into far deeper (unlocking all the arcade modes and extra bits in the "collection" menu).

Seconded. This game's great. It's become a lot more tactical with the added special abilities button (L on the Gamecube). This isn't an arcade port by the way. The latest arcade version is Z Gundam DX which never got ported to the home consoles.

what's the language barrier like? I'm on the lookout for more big robot style games since recently having a good time playing Armored Core: Nexus.

It is Zeta Gundam DX (played it loads in the arcade whilst in Japan, and Gundam vs Zeta is the same), but the name changed because they added a huge amount of extra stuff (including the ZZ Gundam).

The language barrier is not a problem, the game itself is predominantly combat with simple controls.

What kind? Mission-based stuff or more arena-like, with, say, an energy bar??

Cacophanus are you going to write a review on this? Btw have you played Super Robot Taisen? I'm also wanting some sort of mecha game and curious to see which comes out on top.

It's very similar to this, though far more developed and actually a coherent game now.
