Totally agreed......you pretty much level up Dante and the games levels off in terms of difficulty......i bought a US version of DMC a few month before DMC3 came out (i played through the PAL version) and DMC3 just blows it away....i doubt i'll play DMC1 again.....there is no point when you have the third which is esentially the same game but improved in every way.

Beowulf is also my bitch now, just got passed the Horse (playing through on Hard) and having way too much fun with Royalguard - it just makes it so unfair on the demons Standing right up in their faces straight begging them to hit me then RELEASE!!!! >_<

Fire up DMD mode and see if you think the upgraded Dante is too strong for the demons... a ridiculous level of skill and speed is required to perform in that mode!! Funny playing though, especially when you think, as I did, that you are rock hard at the game, hehehe... all new levels of pain and suffering

Agree, the difficulty curve is nicely done in DMC3 and surpasses 1 in every respect. I have came back to Dante more than any other game EVER... he just keeps calling my name!!

I'm taking a break after the nightmare of mission ..13..? The one with a complete c*&t of a secret mission (nr. 8, 'tough guys') followed by the 2nd fight against Vergil.

I didn't want to go through to Vergil without doing the secret mission, and it was a nightmare. Yes those spiders make their attacks well known, but it doesn't help when there's three of them coming from all directions and a couple of those grim reaper ghosts on top ><

I did beat it in the end, without using any items which was my goal. But then when I got to Vergil I couldn't face the prospect of losing so I hit him with holy water and used two vital stars. Ice age seemed impossible to pull off in time as it takes a second or two to go, and he's all over you in that time.

This you first run through Darwock?

Second fight with Vergil is a beauty. Look out for a nice new addition to your armoury when he is defeated with patience this fight can be aced, either through solid use of RG or mapping his attacks and getting your counters in at the right time to provide maximum damage... after a few attempts he can be placed into Dantes coat pocket with ease

I hope so because I haven't noticed much of a change between Normal and Hard mode so far.

Discovered you can Royalguard release attack the "Devil May Cry3" loading icon, raise it up (something I couldn't do with the guns) and even shatter it! Makes me wonder if you can effect it using Swordmaster...

Capcom should be praised for **** like that, the loading screens are mercifully short but giving you something to do while you wait is so sweet!

                You will.

In fact, I'd be willing to bet DMD will have you on your knees by Mission 2 fella.

Its a great little adition when loading... aint bothered bussin releases or any of that **** on it but will give it a try tonight.

I found the difference between Normal and Hard slight aswell.. most bits were easier on Hard as was uber powerful and sKILLed by that point... BUT... as Bleeders told me... nothing can prepare you for DMD... the difference between N and H is 2 or 3 fold... without a word of a lie, DMD ups the ante 10 fold... mental **** you get hit with... some of the basic reapers become absolutely solid and the Vanguard (Mission 2 boss) will continually piss in your mouth... it is a great challenge though... only the truly ****ed up players need apply

Thats good news! Ramping up the challenge will help keep me hooked - I'm one of those players who likes to get pwned over and over and over (VJ ). The Vanguard (Mission 2 boss) used to be tings but now he gets taken out with ease - be good to see him get his groove back

Must put in some work tonight, need Hard out of the way...

Completion of Hard is no mean task itself... finishig that with some nice ratings is an achievment not be smirked at... few will actually see it through a sedond time, some through lack of interest, others through lack of ability

Vanguard can end the show in 2/3 hits TAKE NO ONE lightly in DMD and you let us know when you get there

I could play Mission 1 on DMD for hours again and again... it just so solid!!

Yes I don't have the patience to nail this game in a weekend or whatever, after each boss battle (which usually takes me a couple of hours!) I have to take a few days sabbatical from it, lol.

I've only been using swordmaster, but I did switch to quicksilver to try it out and I was lost without my special moves. I don't fancy trying to do it with gunslinger/trickster etc..

It is the hardest to master, but Royal Guard is the way to master EVERY boss... each style has its trengths but for total pwnage of all who exist in DMC3 RG is the one to master. On my fist play through Swordmaster was my main style and on level 3 it is pretty sweet.

You will love the fully upgraded Swordmaster and it is great for dealing with Vergil. Replay early levels for experience points then spend them to get yourself tricked out before going back to him... works a treat!!

Yeah I have it at level 3. My level 3 moves were useless against him though, I couldn't get Ice Age out in time, he kept interrupting it... and the Agni & Rudra one didn't help me much. I made more use of combo IIIs, butin the end gave up and used the holy water.

Ah, the good ol Holy Water, never fails

I found variations of Combo I and II to be the most effective as they allowed you to cancel and get out of there before he launched another attack. Nice quick 4/5 hits then parry / dodge his routine for a few moves then back in about him... a great fight!!

I've always found the stinger (sword or shotgun) as good starting point for a setup, especially when Vergil launches those blue balls of energy at you. It gives you a window to get a decent combo together and does considerable damage.
