Awesome!
Not seen any mention of this anywhere previously, so I was a bit surprised to spot it whilst picking up some smokes at the local Co-op....
Anyway, first impressions are good...
Gameplay remains true to the classic, with players having to scratch off a line of 5 dots to reveal either a Pac-man or a Ghost icon under each dot.
Get 5 pac-men in a row and you win the prize at the end of the line! One ghost and it's all over though.
The game itself is fantastically easy to pick up, but a proper bitch to master. Each card gives you 5 goes, and so far I've made it unscathed to the very last dot on a number of occasions - only to be royally shafted by a ghost at the very end.
It's not all over then though - if 3 of the 5 possible prizes available on each card all match... then you still win that prize! I've netted 3 quid so far using this method, and I reckon it could prove to be a useful technique.
Overall presentation is good, with a nice rendered Paccers at the top of the card and some old-skool style ghosts also putting in an appearance. In-game graphics are a bit of a let down however - the simple monochrome icons are easy to make out but could have benefitted from a little more work really.
Despite the obvious problems with the difficulty and presentation, I'm happy to say it's definitely got that elusive one-more-go appeal and as such comes highly recommended.
Nice one Namco!
