It arrived this morning and I am on the 2nd Level Gates of Athens and all I can say is WOW!

This really is a superb product, already beaten huge bosses, the sounds and graphics are superb, more importantly it plays lkie a dream. The introduction of new moves and combos as you progress makes it much easier to remember them and when to use them. You can tell this is a highly polished and well crafted product and based on what I have seen far it more than lives up to the hype.

It's instantly playable, grabs you from the begininng and is the best PS2 game I have played in a long time (indeed any game). I would say so far it has grabbed me the same way Resident Eveil 4 did on the GC, you just want to keep on playing!.

The disc is DVD dual layer and has over 2 hours of extras, some including the 'Making of God of war', Trailers, deleted levels and Mosters of Myth video and other unlockables for deafeating the (detailed in the instruction manual).

I will post more when I futher into it, but if you have a USA or chipped PS2 this is a must have (something I rarely say).

Ravengames, (www.ravengames.co.uk) I paid a bit over the odds compared to USA prices but I anted the game soo bad. They got it on thursday.

Picked up a copy of this today and I have to agree that this is superb! The action flows very smoothly allowing for some great looking combos. The visual s are sublime and I haven't encountered any slowdown as of yet. Definetely one of the best action games this year and ranks up there with DMC3 IMHO.

received my copy from vg+ this morning played through first level,everything about the game is top notch so far.looks great in progressive scan cant beleive it is in my good old ps2.gonna be playing this all weekend me thinks

Update time:

I have now completed the first 6 levels of this game and have to say it is ulrelenting, gaming fun. The whole package is superb; great sense of scale of Athens, the music, monsters, puzzles, fighting, story, everything about it really is superb.

And, there is practically no loading! Rarley do you see 'loading' and when it happens, it is only for a second. The restart points load instantly.

I don't want to give any secrets away here as it will spoil the fun for others, but his game really is superb.

Also it supports progressive scan and surround sond, so if you have the correct set-up it will look even better.

I shall be playing through on Hard mode first time through. Don't like the idea of beating it in 8-9 hours on normal.

I was considering it on hard more (just ordered my copy) but the best action/adventure game i have played in my life is ninja gaiden, and to me the game is slightly too hard, although i did complete it, maybe i will try the harder difficulties after i have beaten the game in normal.

This is the final time I'll say this (well probably not, as people continue to use DVDBO), but why the hell did you order from DVDBO when VG+ is about these days?
