This arrived today and I'm about to go give it a whirl. If it's anything like Shutokou on the DC I'll be happy

Any ideas where I get a Logitech DFP wheel? Had a quick look and nowhere had one in stock (gameplay, logitech). I'll ask in Wanted but ideally I'd like a new one.

I did a Google search and came up with:

I can't remember where I bought mine from. I'd need to check when I got home.

Gave the game a few more hours last night. The Legacy in fact has 854 HP (I was being a little optimistic).

I was trying out a few cars and now have four in my sub garage in the shape of my Silvia and Integra. I have two new projects in there as well. The first is a Honda Beat which is sporting a N/A Rotary engine plus all the other mods. I found it a little too inclined to spin when drifting. The second is a Suzuki Cappuccino that I made to do a 0-400 event. This is fully modded and is fitted with a 2 litre turbo engine. I did win some other events with it as well. It is good for about 200 mph!! The 0-400 was against the little Suzuki Carry pick-up truck (which I eventually unlocked).

In the main garage is the Legacy. The next car is for drifting. After trying a Drift Battle with an S2000 and liking the handling I created a sutiable machine which has the stock engine with all other mods fitted. I have yet to use it in anger but will adjust the engine as I see fit when I have used it a few times. Finally I bought the little SUzuki Carry pick-up. You are a little limited in terms of tuning options. I fitted a turbo Rotary engine and all the available tune up items. It has 327 HP and is (I think) around 525 Kg. I decided against the cow in the pick-up bed and went for the canvas tilt. I decided on a nice light blue for it which goes pretty well with the green of the tilt. I used it in a 6 car 1 lap (of the initial street circuit) race, against the likes of a Lancer etc and stormed off into the lead seeing no sign of the other cars for the duration. It is good for about 180 mph. If I had one complaint it would be that it has a tendency to oversteer. Fortunately it is 4WD so there is no problem with traction. It does seem to be pretty stable to drive though.

I am still Rank B after some 16 or more hours play (I noticed the time played on the Player Status screen). I did manage to unlock a number of cars which included the Alpine Altezza (which was unlocked via a wet race at Suzuka East using the Legacy).

I bought up all the accessories from the Super Autobacs shop that had an effect on the racing. I am not sure what effect they had though. At least they apply to all the cars in your garage.

I think my most remunerative session was a 15 minute one at (I think) Suzuka East where I made over 9,000,000 credits. At least money is easy to come by in this game.

Was playing it a little last night too. Equiped everything I could in the Autobacs section. Not sure what most of it does but it was all cheap so no big loss. Any idea what the overalls do? I bought a couple of suits, which seems to do something for SP and DP battles, but I have no idea what.

Also where's the engine swapout option? Not sure if I've actually bought it already. I've been adding a lot of +2 aftermarket parts.

The Engine Swap is the last option in the Engine Upgrade Section. You get a choice of Normal, NA or Turbo. I'll try to get that menu sorted today.

Ahhh yes I think I've seen that. I remember a bit with three options and after I selected one and went to the others it would come up with a caution message. Don't remember seeing anything about normal, NA or Turbo though. Will take another look tonight.

I uploaded the Menus (so far) as bitmaps (only way I could get them to come out clean). They are here:

Nice one! They will come in very handy. Just double checking on the tyre types for you, I'm sure I read a thread somewhere with that info.

Gear adjustment was a bit of a pain. You go in the first time and the final drive is reduced I presume to the Deafult (which is a selectable option when you confirm the gearing) with the normal setting (normally to the right) highlighted. To raise the top speed you need to go to the right of the highlighted position.

My usual setting is to leave top gear as it is and then move all the lower gear settings as far right as possible to make the ratios a bit closer. Fortunately these stick when you go out and then come back in later.

I presume you can have three different ratio settings with one in Setting 1, one in Setting 2 and one on Setting 3.

I'll check out the setting details tonight if I get the chance. There seem to be plenty of things to change (I really ought to increase the downforce where possible for a wet setting!).

The tire info that I had read was pretty much what you put down.

I've not really had to mess with the gear ratios as of yet as my car is moderately powered at the moment.

Bassman you legend! The wheel is ordered and those menus are just the ticket.

I'm gonna give it more time tonight but initial impressions are pretty good. Just like the old Shukotou which is definitely no bad thing. I'm thankful the BGM can be killed though The speed effect is a bit weird although I'm sure I'll get used to it. The tunnel exit light is superb! Makes leaving a tunnel when on a bend all the more interesting

Was fumbling around the menus somewhat but I went with an RX-8 and have been doing various C class (I think) races/challenges. It seems to be fine as it is so I'm saving up for a better motor with the winnings. And I'm sure I saw the AE86 in the line-up so that's a must buy 8)

The hardest problem I had was finding first person view. I was pressing all-sorts before thinking maybe it doesn't have it. Two hours later I accidentally clicked R3 with the bottom of my hand and bingo!

I really must try the game with the DFP.

Ah, yes the first person view. I fortunately found it relatively quickly. In the first few minutes of play (always a good move to try absolutely every button on the stick if you are in doubt!!).

I have done an update on the menus (I don't think I will be doing much more to them unless anyone has any clarifications):

I put in about 6 hours last night!! I now have over 1,000,000 NP (nothing special happened when I reached that).

I managed almost 11,000,000 credits on one SP Rank B session. Due to having too much money I bought another three cars. I have a Lancer EVO 5 (again with the Flat 6 but I may swap for something a little more realistic. Adjusted the suspension and it goes reasonably (accelleration is not that brilliant). Fullly modded of course. A custom painted Nissan Cube came up in the used lot (I'd race against it) and decided to buy it. It is fully kitted out but only has 172 HP or so. It does have a CVT which makes things interesting. Needless to say it is not that fast but at least I can take it for a drive. Finally I made a fully kitted out late model Legacy (after trying a late model EVO and re-loading the game... I'll probably do own later anyway). Again the flat 6, but it does seem to go better than the other one (370 Km/h top speed) and seems to get away with lower gearing. I had 42,000,000 credits so decided to spend a large portion of it on that Legacy. I still have a fair wad of cash in hand and another Rank B SP session should rake in about 10,000,000.

I found a rather difficult to beat Lancer EVO V/VI last night. I had to race against it in Suzuka West and its initial tactic was to barge into me!!! I re-loaded the game and was ready the next time and manage to just about get ahead (It did have over 700 HP and a fair degree of weight reduction) but it got past me on the corner before the longish straight (by the start/finish line). I had more on my status indicator but I thought that was it. He seemed to be having trouble with another car on the corner ahead of me and the battle ended and... I had won!!! That was a huge relief and I made sure in subsequent challenges in the session that I avoided a rematch.

I set up packs of items (helmet etc). One for each of the types of race. I think they need some refining and to be honest I am not sure what effect they have but at least they are easy to modify with different items.

                          Cheers for the updated translations.

Played it for an hour or so last night myself. Bought everything I could in the Autobacs section, is there anything else you need to do with that stuff or is it auto enabled?

Anyway, still not unlocked the engine swapout option as previously thought, but I'm still laying the competition to waste at the moment so I'm not in a rush to upgrade.

You go into garage and chose the third option down. Select the Pack (A,B or C) that you want to add items to (numbered 01 - 05). Select an item from the list which has the type of battle highloighted (SP) for instance. Press X to allocate the item. Select 02 and repeat the selection process until you have 5 SP items allocated. Then do Pack B for DP for instance selecting 5 items and similarly for Pack C and RP.

                            I did quote this:

Start equipping items you purchased from the Super Autobacs store. A lot of them are just garage items but you can use some for actual racing such as the map radars (makes map wider in scope), large sized back view mirror, gold plated plugs and plug cords (reduces RP penalty window), coin holder (reduces CP entry requirements), bucket seats + 4 point harness (reduce SP damage), and the Drift ring. The last item I mentioned may help those of you who find the Aqua NSX in the C1GP portion unbeatable. You need to score 40,000+ DPs with only 2 sections. The ring will give you double the DPs you would normally get, but the catch is that you can't course out or get a Stop Judgement throughout the DP race.
I am not sure which is the Drift Ring (I just guessed on the menu as I don't have the game to hand), so I have amended the second menu page (what I thought was a license plate is probably the mirror). It also has the piece I wrote above about the accessories.

Added the notes about item effect to page 2 now.

                                Still unsure about these items.

Gave the game a short go last night but got frustrated with the drifting (not my strong point) and gave up... for the moment. I really ought to try to sort out the accessories. I think I successfully used the new rear view mirror as the map is now smaller scale. Up to about 25,000,000 in the bank so it is probably time to buy another car. I made about 5,000,000 in a 5 minute session which I was quite impressed with!!
