Absolutely, the computer is a bastard to break down now, but when you do, make those chances count.

Ive already elminated my use of R1. I think maybe im struggling more than usual cos i havent tried the game against another human player yet, whereas i usually get used to the new versions in two player mode. Will have to address that this weekend methinks!

Got it today and had a couple of games against the computer. Like others have said it is a lot harder. I often find that with the WE games though and after a while you get used to the style of play but to actually put the ball in the back of the net is pretty tricky. A number of shots that I would have buried on WE8 went well over the bar. Likewise I am finding it very hard to defend corners. On previous iterations I rarely gave goals away via corners and on this I can't seem to stop.

I haven't had any real problems with the refereeing at all but perhaps its because I knew I would have to adapt my game because I had heard X tackling is now often penalised. Its also nice to see no slowdown in and around the area.

          Offsides? How are they?

Crap offsides have stopped my playing/buying WE for a while.

This coming to Xbox ? Not heard anything about it. Would be good if they implemented some decent live functionality i.e cups/league support.

Id say that depends what you class as crap offsides really. I cant say ive ever had a problem with them. Generally they are spot on, with the odd close/slightly dodgy decision causing good banter between you and a mate!

I'm with Marmite I haven't had many problems with offsides either. I only got one offside in the first 3 games I played and it was rather blatant. What I did like was that the angle of the replay has shifted (its now more like a TV replay) and its easier to tell if it was a genuine offside or not.

Ok, whacked the difficulty level back up to the usual 5 stars last night. Played 6 games, scored one, conceded one. Its just not happening for me up front. My only sniff at goal comes from playing it into space down the wings and crossing the ball in. I simply cannot work any space through the middle for one-on-ones.

Do you guys set any of your players on inidividual settings?

I also found it hard to play as well, I probably have to unlearn Winning Eleven 8LE and learn Winning Eleven 9.

In the Formation Settings you can set your players to predominantly attack in two different directions, which I've found helps quite a bit when you trying to open the defence up.

For example - you could set your wingers to cut inside or to stay out on the flanks to supply crosses or you can set your OF to push through the middle when your on the attack etc.

The individual settings do help to a degree but my biggest stumbling block with the game so far is that I can't play my usual WE game. I always used to play pretty direct and through the middle but its practically impossible to play (and win) like this anymore. I'm having to re-learn how to spread the ball effectively to the wings and be more probing that way. I do think it is better though as it is now more like a proper game of football.
