Just finished this and it's bloody gash. Granted it has loads of nice ideas in it but many of them are horribly executed, or just don't work.
For starters you have no control over what objects you can possess. Rather than having a massive playpen to fool around in, N-Space forces you to walk up to an item until you can find one you can actually interact with. It gives the whole possession aspect a horribly linear feel to it and while some of the possessions are quite funny it's all rather tedious.
AI is also ridiculously bad. I've lost count of the enemies that will step out from cover, shoot at you and then step back to their cover again with their backs towards it. This may sound fine, but I forgot to mention that they'll think nothing of using a crate as cove, so when they stop firing they're essentially showing you their entire back. Oh and when you get to a training mission, you'll find it's actually possibly to kill practically every guard on a level without them even hitting you. Skill? Not at all, if you slowly strafe until the tiniest pixel turns red, you can kill them even if it means that you're shooting into an actual door.
Oh and what about a fairly inventive boss that is rendered utterly pointless because you can just walk into a corner and continually shoot at it without it being able to get anywhere near you? The insults just keep coming.
And wait until you reach the motorcycle sequence, easily one of the worst action setpieces in any video game ever.
This is a horrible game and one Nintendo should distance itself from as soon as possible.

Had a look at the IGN review and it's pretty good. It misses out a lot of points, but you're right, it's certainly balancedLast edited by Strider; 25-08-2005, 11:47.

I have to disagree with Strider. This is a fairly good game. Not outstanding, but certainly better than most of the dross that is released these days. It does appear to be linear, but what game isn't? It's no more or less linear than Metal Gear, Eternal Darkness and Headhunter, games which are similar in style.
People assume that because it is associated to Nintendo it has to be a ground breaking title every time. This is not a ground breaking game, but what it does it does well even though graphically it does look dated. The sound and music are perfectly acceptable.
I would score it 7/10.

The lack of a sandbox approach is rather refreshing imo, you get to a situation, and you have to figure out the solution, thats it.
Thats what has made games fun for ages and its fun this time around too.
Still, good to hear that a few people are enjoying it
