Graphically its a bit shoddy, and the framerate is suspect, but i am actually enjoying it! Reminds me a bit of Eternal Darkness which is severly under-rated IMO.

I am however stuck early on. I am in the room where I have scared the guard and possessed him. I have got the gun, but what next?

Just finished this and it's bloody gash. Granted it has loads of nice ideas in it but many of them are horribly executed, or just don't work.

For starters you have no control over what objects you can possess. Rather than having a massive playpen to fool around in, N-Space forces you to walk up to an item until you can find one you can actually interact with. It gives the whole possession aspect a horribly linear feel to it and while some of the possessions are quite funny it's all rather tedious.

AI is also ridiculously bad. I've lost count of the enemies that will step out from cover, shoot at you and then step back to their cover again with their backs towards it. This may sound fine, but I forgot to mention that they'll think nothing of using a crate as cove, so when they stop firing they're essentially showing you their entire back. Oh and when you get to a training mission, you'll find it's actually possibly to kill practically every guard on a level without them even hitting you. Skill? Not at all, if you slowly strafe until the tiniest pixel turns red, you can kill them even if it means that you're shooting into an actual door.

Oh and what about a fairly inventive boss that is rendered utterly pointless because you can just walk into a corner and continually shoot at it without it being able to get anywhere near you? The insults just keep coming.

And wait until you reach the motorcycle sequence, easily one of the worst action setpieces in any video game ever.

This is a horrible game and one Nintendo should distance itself from as soon as possible.

I'm looking forward to seeing the GamestTM review then

If it doesn't use the phrase 'bloody gash' I will be most disappointed

Sorry mate, I'm reviewing it for Cube

Funnily enough, the person who's doing it for us actually likes it...

Obviously you're only seeing all the negatives. I feel the ign review is the most balanced around....

Have you even played it? I've listed the negatives because they ruin what could be an interesting game. Pay me ?160 odd quid and I'll give you a proper indepth review

Had a look at the IGN review and it's pretty good. It misses out a lot of points, but you're right, it's certainly balanced

I have to disagree with Strider. This is a fairly good game. Not outstanding, but certainly better than most of the dross that is released these days. It does appear to be linear, but what game isn't? It's no more or less linear than Metal Gear, Eternal Darkness and Headhunter, games which are similar in style.

People assume that because it is associated to Nintendo it has to be a ground breaking title every time. This is not a ground breaking game, but what it does it does well even though graphically it does look dated. The sound and music are perfectly acceptable.

                  I would score it 7/10.

If we all agreed with each other the world would be a very boring place

Still waiting for my copy from VG+.I fear the postie has nicked it.

                      Hope he likes it

It seems like a real 'marmite' game from the comments on this thread.

Dont know if i am looking forward to it tbh.

Played the first three levels so far. I'm enjoying it a fair bit (especially the possess a rat part), but there are obvious flaws. Depends if they affect my enjoyment of the game or not. Will see by the end.

I've got to some of the later levels and the graphics are truly lovely, Mainly because of the heavy usage of bloom lighting when you see through the eyes of a the geist. There is something realy cool about the way everything is in standstill when you are a ghost.

Im on level 6 now and i like it.
The lack of a sandbox approach is rather refreshing imo, you get to a situation, and you have to figure out the solution, thats it.
Thats what has made games fun for ages and its fun this time around too.

There's nothing to figure out though? It's just a case of looking at stuff until you find something you can interact with...

Still, good to hear that a few people are enjoying it

I haven't actually played Geist yet, so I'm not really wading in, but I was just wondering, the statement that Strider mentioned here could arguably apply to Metroid Prime, but that's a superb game. I presume there's more to it than that?
