    Serious Sam 2

This arrived yesterday from Play for ?17.99. Did anyone else get this?

I was able to play it briefly yesterday afternoon.

First impression was that the game looked good. Shooting enemies was better that the first game (in the first you could miss the target and still kill them). Mostly first person view other than when using other transport, such as a dinosaur!! I only had a chance to try the single player game.

Some humour there which is always appreciated. Definitely on the light-hearted side.

Quite fancied this for 4 player xbox live co-op - ?17.99 seems highly reasonable might go order.

I couldn't get into the first one, but will wait to read more impressions and reviews of this, I'm always up for co-op games.

I got this Fri from Play, had a quick go Fri night and seem's very good, i think you have to be a fan of this style of shooting game to fully appreiciate it - it really is a an oldschool, balls-to-the-wall shooter, no fluff just run and gun, feels like early Doom to play, i am really looking forward to Painkiller which is from this school of gaming. This sort of game is nice just to put on for a while without having to engage the brain to much, just pure fun - i would recommend if you like this stye of game.

          Im going to get this.

Do they still throw hundreds apon hundreds of enemys at you at once? That was always the best bits.

Have played through the first 4 or 5 levels and yes, its just like the first game. Loads and loads of enemies, loads and loads of ammo and weapons to use. Engine looks nice and bright, no slowdown for me at a nice high res. But more importantly, its LOADS OF FUN.

I've been skipping the cut-scenes though. No surprises there then.

Yes, I think fun is the operative word with this game. You only have to think occasionally!

I'll have to watch out for a cheap pre-owned one at some point so that I can arrange some System Link action.

If I had one disappointment, it would be the Chainsaw (that is what you start out with isn't it?). Just didn't seem quite as effective as in the first game.

Is there still secrets etc? In the original and 2nd one you found them here there and everywhere, usually funny too

Yip, still secrets on each level. And still funny when you get to the end of a level and your enemy kills are 250 or something.

I just watched a video of this on the XBox over at Gamspot, and it looked really iffy,no where near as good looking as the first game, the frame rate seem to suffer aswell, even the guy reviewing it said that the PC version was much better, and the XBox version did'nt look as good,it puts me off a bit to be honest!

Seems like another rush job, should have waited and released it on X360.

                    Bugger

Loaded Serious Sam on the PC again today, have decided to play through that and then move onto the sequel.

The frame rate on SS2 doesn't suffer at all on the PC version, no matter how many enemies are on screen at one time. I like how they've kept the graphics simple just like the original. Lots of primary colours, crisp sprites - suits the game down to the ground.

Got mine today from play 17.99 and it's an absolute joy! It's just what they say it is, serious sam 2, mental stuff. Took me a while to get into the style of game that it is, but once it got going i was loving it. 2 hours later my eyes are bleeding
