the news stories have a lot more depth to them, and it finally mentions the poor manager you replace when you start, only briefly but at least they don't just get booted out without a mention

Anyone else had problems with the demo? Mine crashes after I've run it once and I have to manually delete then reinstall...hope it doesnt happen with the real thing!
Also, on the realism front, I won my first match as sunderland 3-1 against arsenal with an elliot hat-trick using the default 4-4-2 tactics, no changes at all...bit worrying! -
This came through the door this morning, I'm not at home though so I've not been able to start a game yet. I'm house sitting for a mate til sunday so I installed and loaded it up on his pc to have a butchers, already quite surprised by some of the stats. No way Gerrard should have 14 accel/pace. Can't bloody wait to get home and start a game with my brothers now though, although I've got PES 5 which also came this morning to keep me ammused til I get home.Comment

Played this a bit last night and I have to say I'm impressed so far. Definitely seems as fast as 2005 if not a bit faster which is a bonus. Bit overwhelmed by the amout of options though and they've changed the position of some of them as well, just to confuse.
For example, does anyone know where to change the option to rest the day before a match?Comment

Ive got this today, and it being the first FM game Ive played, Im overwhelmed by options and am not sure where to start. I just won my first friendly match, probably more through luck than skill though. Any good advice for a newb would be appreciated!Comment

spend a while setting out the squad how you like it, think tactically when setting the player instructions it does pay to spend about half an hours just tinkering around the player instructions.
Send your scouts to scandinavia as you can pick up some absolute bargins there. If i think of some more i'll post agian

A MUST for any FM manager is the setting of individual tactics for each player. Select the player you want to update in the tactics screen then select the "Set to" option form the drop down menu on the right... here you can set them to the default setting for whatever position they are playing and it really helps getting them to play that position well.
So far played about a month of Celtic game and it seems pretty spot on so far. Just drew 1-1 away from home but have had an exhausting few weeks qualifying for europe so can understand it.
Loved 2005 and 2006 picks up right where you want it to. Some good improvements to the player interaction and all seems to move along a bit quicker IMO. The team talk function is great and have really seen the benefit of it so far.

Cant access that in work, what bugs are fixed as I have one in operation at the moment on mine...
The little envelope that shows if you have unread mail is always at unread so even when I dont have new mail the game stops at every opportunity thinking I have new mail. Really slows things down and is beginning to annoy me. Tried ****ing about with the mail settings, etc but nothing sorts it. Even when I quit and reload the same game it still does it. Hope the patch can sort it without me having to start all over again.

Playing the demo of this. Very enjoyable as always. Shame I can't really judge the speed as it just has 1 league active.
Anway - Just thought I would ask...Sometimes this game really goes over my head. There is just TOO much to take in. I find myself picking my team by letting my eyes drift over each players stats until I find some high numbers - Regardless of the criteria that high rating falls within.
Just how on earth can you take this all in? Am I trying to play it too quickly? (I hate the idea of tweaking every little detail before each game and ending up only playing 2 matches in an evening).
And also a probably dumb question - Where on earth can you set your Captain? I can only change it on the Detailed Tactics screen of the Match.Comment

to pick your cpt go to tactics then player instructions. You want to be picking someone with a high influence stat.Comment

Yeh I knew who to pick, and I picked him, but I only found it once I was playing the actual match
