Dragon Ball Z Budokai - Tenkaichi

Only had a quick go but will give my very early impressions

Dragonballz has been a Frustrating franchise didnt seem to have been a dragonballz game to match hyper dimension for the snes the budokai series just seemed far to shallow (and in budokai 3 more annoyingly there was a certain amount of luck needed for some moves). Here they have simplifed the controls even more.Which might have annoyed me.But it hasent because now with the more exploratary levels its seems to have turned it into a more virtual on style game where positioning and dodging is important.

More importantly with the fast pace and destruction of the enviroment makes it even feel more like you are in the cartoon.Only had one go and gave a quick try in the story mode.....I was wasted by raditz in about 30 seconds think i need more practice. As with all the dragonball budokai games it seems fun i just hope this one lasts me a bit longer then the previous games

As a big DBZ and especially games by Spike fan, I keep meaning to pick this up myself.

I checked out the website before and the list of characters in the game is huge, is everyone available from the start? or do you unlock char's through the story mode? I'm not sure I have the time to play through the story mode just now, but wouldn't mind this for a quick go every now and then.

played for a few hrs last night
you unlock people as you go

The controls and combat seems to have changed quite a bit.

One button does the basic punch kick combos. And another button does the KI attacks. Now super moves are done with by pressing L2 + triangle + a direction.Or character specific moves done by L2 + circle + a direction.Combos fill up a bar in the bottom right hand. You can combo and with the last button hold it down while the bar is red you can send them flying through mountains and any other objects.Best method is to send the enemy flying back and then launch a super move attack

What i do find cool is while there is a radar if you lose site of them they disapear of the radar so its possible say to hide underwater and stealthily launch a quick attack

My only problem with this game so far is that like with previous budokai many characters share moves and the basic moves are pretty much the same for them all.

But for a experience of being in a cartoon you cannot beat it

One thing i should mention instead of collecting skills you now collect items that increase your stats example atk +4 def +4 def+5 etc

I never really liked that collecting capsules this seems much better.I do not think transformation is really done either (though i wont know for sure until i complete the frieza saga) Each of friezas forms are individual character
