This game looks fantastic. Finally something Sims like with a purpose and a fun element of movie making too!
This slipped under my radar to a certian extent, didn't realise it was out so soon but I think I will definately make a purchase.
Quick question are the controls fairly simple like the Sims? I mean is it as easy to pick up and play? I'm sure the gf would like this too, just ideally not with stupidly over complicated controls!

As far as camera angles go from what ive heard as you progress through to modern times you get more options like dollys and paning and stuff.Comment

The impressions here have made me really interested in this. I'd had my eye on The Movies beforehand, but recent US reviews have been half-lukewarm (by their standards).
The concept of the game, in being able to direct and produce has me seriously anticipating getting to grips with this. If only to toy around with in a few insane ideas.

if you're expecting a fully in depth movie creation tool then you'll be dissapointed, you pic the scenes, choose backdrops props direction (what type of scream she has etc.) who is there what they're wearing etc.
so you do have a lot of control just not total control. Its nice seeing one of your own movies do well with the critics but its often also dependant on the relationship between your director and the starsComment

Yeah... I'm not expecting to alter content, but trailer camer angles, set design, character placement and the like? Yes, please.
It's also the managerial parts which interest me. Although The Movies is far from a simulation, I'm looking forward to getting a 'feel' for the whole process from financial to creative when it comes to promoting films. Obviously it won't offer an accurate picture, but a taste is fine by me.
