I had the gamecube version but only played it a few times so i might be wrong with some differences
First thing noticed a new frontend larger simpler menus.Second thing is there is now a score attack
mode.Choose a character and a level and get the highest score in one life. Also there seems to a better (still japanese though)
how to play.
On initial play though it seems the original mode is no longer there just the arcade mode.Perhaps it might be a unlockable only a lot more play will tell
It seems to me on my first play the controls just felt better i was just a lot more comfortable with them.
Graphics wise it looked cleaner to me but i am just going by memory here
For people who have never heard of the chaos field games this is the basics
You choose out of three ships each with variation on weapons. You have your basic shot a lock on attack a close up sword attack and a character specific attack. Also you have a button for the "chaos Field" which i will explain. You have two fields order and chaos. The order field you fight the enemy and its easier though seems your weapon does less damage.Activate the chaos field and the enemys get hard and chuck out more projectiles but you dish out more firepower this is the key for high scores. Also when you go between fields you have a very small amount of invicibilty which can be very handy.Afer you switch fields though it need time to recharge
The game is really just a series of boss battles
Initially i found the chaos field games very very hard.Your ship is far bigger then in most shooters and there is a lot of projectiles on screen. With a bit of time and getting the hang of the sword attack (which eliminates most enemy projectiles) it becomes easier and like with most good shooters its a case of remembering attack patterns.
All my fav shooters have a hook such as psyvariers buzz system or homura's multiplier. This game has one too.On the left hand there are 10 energy bars when you destroy the enemy they release items which charge this up.With each full bar you can either perform the character specific move or the lock on attack. Now you have a hit counter in the chaos field when you destroy enemy projectiles with the lock on or specific attack its adds to the hit multiplier.
For me i use the order field to build up the energy bars (though the specific attack will add to the hit counter in both the chaos and order field). And use it against the final boss in the level.
And no there is no blue monday track
