I crumbled last night and ordered the PS3 version. I'm planning to play it differently this time... but I know I'll just end up rolling the same bloody High-Elf Mage that I always do.

I can't seem to get away from the typical heavy armor/melee type character myself, wouldn't mind using a stealthy/marksman type but I couldn't get used to shooting the bow with the controller. So much easier to shoot stuff on the PC version, meh!

Just got a new HDTV and this is one of the best things I've seen on it so far.

paying nearly ?500 just for slightly better visuals, and having to start again is something i wouldn't wan't to do or something i could do.

I'd rather Get an ?800 PC and play S.T.A.L.K.E.R., B&W2, and bigger titles than buy a PS3. If it didn't cost so much i would think completely different.

Personally I far prefer the 360 shot out of those two, look at the mountains in the background.

Hehe. The mountains look better, yes, but everything else looks inferior to the PS3 shot.

I've just this minute ordered one anyway as it was too good a deal to miss and, **** it, it's high time I treated myself.

Now I just need to hold off playing The Shivering Isles after downloading it until the TV arrives. Gonna be tough.

I create my character with the intention of going Battlemage (So High Elf for the mageness and using The Lady for the endurance boost), but more often than not I end up almost completely reliant on magic.

Interestingly, I've just noticed a post on the official forums (the reading of which is the first indication that I'm going to lose my life to Oblivion yet again) stating that the PS3 version supports keyboard/mouse. Not sure if I'd prefer that over the controller to be honest, but the option's there.

I wouldn't say that. What doesn't come across in the photos is that there is almost no aliasing in the 360 version at all - it's a very nice smooth looking game. Sure, the PS3 textures are sharper for a longer distance, but there's 'jaggies' everywhere.

The mountains are probably just a lighting difference, as it's hard to get it the same with all the weather etc being random. I'm also not sure if the PS3 one is using HDR lighting or not - it certainly seems a little different if it is.

I'd probably stick to the 360 one if you've got it (especially as you'll probably be wanting the expansion by now) and if not, decide which is more important to you in terms of graphics. Another thing to consider is the controller - not sure I'd want to be playing it with the Sixaxis. (I hated aiming in Resistance)

I don't have a PS3 but, if I did, would not buy the PS3 version. I've put over 250 hours into the 360 version, am level 49, maxed out in every skill/ability (except mercentile) and, honestly, I don't think my social life would recover if I had to do it all again. It's a daunting thought.

I wouldnt even want to play it through from start again. What would be the point in buying whats basically the exact same game on a new console just to start again, just seems like a complete waste of money if you've played it all already.

But I do agree with what andrewfee says about the differences, the AF on PS3 does make a big difference, first thing I noticed on it, and the lack of it on 360 has always annoyed me but I've managed for 125 hours so far so I think I'll still manage to finish the game without it too!

If I still had the 360 version I very much doubt I'd pick it up on the PS3 (Although that's by no means a definite! ). But I don't have access to it on the 360 now and I do love the game, so getting it on the PS3 is a no-brainer.

And I should have finished with it again by the time they eventually release Shivering Isles. Hopefully.

As a heads-up, Shivering Isles has been released on the Xbox Live Marketplace (early?) for 2400 points. 993.75MB download.

Get it quick before the servers go down for 14 hours maintenance.
