Quick questions for the vets out there:

On completetion of the main quest

do all the other random oblivion gates shut down? I don't want to lose all the goodies inside y'see

Where can I find silver glassses? I have one, but this quest is driving me nuts!

If I have maxed out my strength, will levelling up still make my attacks stronger? Or am I as strong as I will ever be? As in, does a level 40 warrior with 100 strentght hit harder than a level 20 warrior with 100 strength?

I can't answer with any absolute certainty but I'd imagine if that were the case then the whole prospect of levelling up wouldn't be as casual as they make it out to be.

The point seems to be, if you get +5 strength every time you can max out your strength early on, but balancing your character should do it slower. If you could get to 100 then keep going up levels, it would be pointless because you'd still be getting +5 strengths you couldn't use and the rest of your stats would suffer horribly making it a rather unbalanced game.

      Only a theory mind.

I would have thought if you got to 100, you wouldn't have the option of levelling up that statistic upon level up?

Don't forget, how hard you hit with a weapon depends on the weapon as well.

just out of curiousity, is it normal for the xbox 360's fan to cut out after a few hours play on this game?

Are you sure it is the fan ? the DVD drive on my 2nd machine will shut down after a period of time, and only fire back up again when needed. The reduction in sound is dramatic, would be lovelly if the machine was like it all the time tbh !!

That might explain why when I get hit by bears in the wild my "Ungh!"noise seems to come out late, perhaps due to the disk spinning up...

Very possibly fake or a misprint, but it wouldn't surprise me.

PS3 Oblivion. Oh yes, please - faster loading/more stable. If there's any game I wouldn't mind ploughing 100 hours into to get back to where I was, it's Oblivion.

PSP though? Maybe if an Oblivion game is ported from one of Bethesda's mobile versions.

Still majorly stuck on this, I presume the thing is not to attack them? Each time I try I just get cained, theres no way out either.

Knowing how incredible this game is, I'd hate to think I'd have to wait til November to play it. I'm already at 61 hours and its been out how long, few weeks?

If all the PS3 is gonna get is titles you could get elsewhere, it'll be the new XBOX (in my humble opinion, reason I never got an XBOX is because it didn't have enough games I couldn't get on PS2 that I wanted).

                        Anyway...

Fighters Guild missions are really dragging for me, I'm overpowered and they are ridiculously easy now, just : Go to someone and get mission -> go to cave/dungeon/fort -> kill people who are in the way to get "item" OR kill baddie hidden at end of cave/dungeon/fort -> go back to person who gave you mission -> go back to fighters guild -> get paid and advanced.

The ONLY criticism of this game I'd have, and its the only one...is that they didn't put enough imagination into the places you have to visit for guild missions. You get 80% trawling through dungeons that get boring very quickly, yet you can get missions like the one in the Thieves guild where

you go to the house, get locked in and have to find a way to murder all 5 people without them knowing it's you, under the precept that you are all there to find "treasure"

                        . Seems a shame really.

Also, the crashing is getting more and more frequent, almost every session I'll get a crash on the loading screen now...

That said, still can't find a game that comes close to it right now.

If the PS3 has a BD ray X2, the actual load times would be a tad just quicker, not like a 10 second difference or anything :/.

I'd be prepared to wait until November for a stable (presuming the code is patched), relatively load-free console version of the game assuming the HD is better used or the game is built for the PS3 with it in mind. The PS3 will get a whole host of exclusive software regardless of Oblivion or not - but if it's there, well, it becomes a must-have launch title.

It would have been, to use an example, the same with the 360 and a flawless (or smooth) version of Half-Life 2 back in 2005.

                            Anyway. On with game discussion.

But you have to be fair to the game and say that the problems people experience are relative, because I (and most) haven't had such a poor experience as you mate

Also, what on earth makes you think it'll be better on the PS3? If it's a near-launch title, the problems could actually be the same or worse! Remember, the PS3 isn't out yet, and look at the probs the 360 (supposedly) had at launch!

Surely a relatively simple patch making the game use the 360 HD would fix it...or is it not that simple?

I find it hard to believe a game of this size would ever be even CLOSE to relatively load-free
