    Worms Open Warfare DS

Picked this up on the way back from the gym.

Quick blast on it and three things have stood out so far:

    1) Its Worms.
    2) No online multiplayer.
    3) The presentation on the top screen where the action takes place is a bit shoddy. The edges of text and terrain look rough.

I must say I think its a travesty that they didn't include online play.

I read somewhere they apparently left it out cos they didn't know how to do it or Nintendo weren't giving them much help...

Bollocks I say, they're either lying, have **** programmers or most probably, both!

all faith in DS games being the best has been damaged by this!

Whats the point in the game now? Surely if it was going to delay release it would have increased sales?

Got mine this morning and not had a chance to pop it on yet. I too am really dissapointed that online has been missed out (I did know before ordering though). Surely it's got to be sooo easy to put in there in the first place and as already mentioned would only boost sales, after all, look how many people went online with MK DS, bloody zillions !!!

For me it would have been the only reason to buy it, without it whats the point?

It was a daft decision and it was probably left out for political reasons rather then anything else.

Such a shame, The DS would have been the perfect companion for Worms.

Worms is excellent multiplayer. Lets hope they have another release with the online function. Although we wouldn't probably see it in the market for another 6 months or so if they decide to make it now

Y'see as a non DS owner, And looking to get into the market, I'm constantly looking for games that make me want the system, and I'm not buying it until theres a good few I can pick up and this would have been one of the killer games for me. Online multiplayer worms whereever you go would just be too good! I cant believe they left it out, so bad..

I guess Nintendo let them **** it up, then
What a waste. Could have been AAA with the proper care and attention

The lack of Online play isn't the worst thing about this hack job. I'm not going to go into great detail here as I've written a review for the site but I will point out the following:
                      • There are loads of bits missing from previous games
                      • The touch screen control doesn't work very well
                      • None of the DS's unique features are used to their full potential if at all
                      • The graphics are awful (3D Worms with low polygon count when sprites would have been fine)
                      • The menus are dull and lifeless
                      • The classic music is missing
                      • You don't use the stylus to pin point air strikes or homing missiles. WTF?

I guess this game speaks strongly about itself

Has anyone played the PSP version? It's much better. The graphics are very crisp and clean with nice 3D animated backgrounds. The widescreen of the PSP is perfectly suited to the landscapes and the analog nub works really well for camera control.

It's very is easy to see which version had the most money and effort spent on it. The PSP version was actually developed in-house at Team 17 whilst the DS version was outsourced to a dev-co called Gamesauce. The resulting difference in quality is astounding.

                              Is the PSP version wi-fi'able?
